Anyone who welcomes politicians overturning our planning laws hereby forfeit the right to give out about "austerity" or "corrupt developers".

2 going ahead later in the year seems like a bit of a compromise until you think that people who booked flights and hotels for those days are still screwed and will lose that money

You're not even making sense, no vote for you.

Why would he apologise, there are hundreds of thousands if not millions of people who agree with him (basing that on the fact loads of people not going really think the concerts should go ahead).

If these gigs go ahead its bloody brilliant, people power at its finest and has restored my faith in politicians being able to get things done!

It;'s also refereed to as the "tyranny of the majority"

This was the most obvious solution, just to move them even to the following weekend but it was said that the residents wouldn't agree as it would still break the hallowed agreement.

Maybe the venue has changed if they are pushed much further out. We'll find out soon I guess.

I can't wait for the reactions here when these concerts go ahead, they will happen.
    Well,
if the three go ahead this month and
the residents have agreed not to object to 2 more later this year and
    licences are applied for and
    licences are issued and
all tickets for Monday and Tuesday are honoured,

then everything is above board so there should be no issue,

except for those who have tickets for Mon/Tue and one of Fri/Sat/Sun as they will have to travel twice.

SoCal Music Lover will have a double dilemma

Just want to drop my opinion in here.

I'd be delighted if at least 3 if not 5 went ahead. The way I see it the benefits to locals far outweighs the negatives. Then you have the 300k Irish and 100k foreigners who will enjoy a great night.

Will be a much needed boost to the economy and the tourism gains will last years down the line especially considering he's making a DVD out of it to be sold worldwide.

We live in a democracy so I would hate to see a small minority of locals, some with ulterior motives get the nod ahead of the vast majority of locals who are pro the 5 concerts.

You couldn't invent the PR idiot who thought it was a good idea to make this plea. Read the comments. Thankfully they restore some of my faith that not all of Ireland is in a hysterical frenzy.

Two dates later in the year would still be sh*tty for those who were travelling for those shows. A change of venue would be a perfect solution.

That'd be a shame to waste the stadium for all of next year.

Actually, didn't the GAA say they had already contracted something for next year so that couldn't happen?

    Something has changed anyway.

The GAA have already said they have "legal obligations" for next year so someone else is playing ......
..... or Garth Brooks is coming for part of his world tour.
