Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Alex White hasn't a hope of being re-elected.

Quite an attack by Matthews there, poor Alex couldn't enunciate a reply he was so rattled

The Haughy government achieved economic stability by slashing public expenditure. I remember it well.

I have noticed with these debates that there is never anyone on who has any ideas of how to create jobs and prosperity that everyone can benefit from. The audiences seem to be composed mainly of people with some axe to grind plus a collection of predominantly left wing party hacks.

I disagree, the threshold is €225,000, that's a very modest house these days.

I disagree Roger, inheritance is not always "free money" as is often assumed...

A lot of family issues are often involved and not as simple as your Mam or Dad dies and you get a bankroll...

It's a bit of an Irish thing, someone dies and you become a millionaire seems to be the assumption....:(

But you only pay the tax on the amount above the threshold. I would be very happy to pay a tax of €25,000 to inherit a house worth €300,000.
    Most people inherit nothing.

    Make landlords richer?
I know nowadays there is plenty of accidental landlords, which you would have to feel for.

But there are plenty of landlords with multiple properties and could best be described as slumlords.Wouldn't put hand in pocket for anything!

Some fantastic faces being pulled by the bald guy behind Shatter/Mathews when they were making their opening remarks.

All very pale, male and stale - Winston Churchtown would just have reinforced it.

It's funny watching Vinnie get so exasperated with Mathews - if he hadn't fallen for his shallow semi convincing schtick at the early stage of the financial crisis he would never have had the profile to get a nomination.

Where are all the other potential candidates?

Why is the Simon guy having his dtuff repeated, little attention to editing? Someone's going to get fired.

Best of luck to you but most people I know wouldn't be able to afford €25,000 in tax so they would have to give up the house.

This programme should have been listed on the TV Guide as 'The Adverts' with occasional breaks for programming.
