Her response to cronyism was very encouraging. It was basically, "Yeah, we do cronyism. What's the big deal?". I think she literally shrugged her shoulders as well.

Any political party who promises increases in taxation isn't going to do very well. In general elections, people vote in whatever they perceive to be in their own best economic interest.

I must be costing the state a fortune. A neighbour of mine had a fine for motoring offences that she couldn't/ wouldn't pay. She was arrested by appointment and taken to mountjoy in a taxi by two guards. Stopped for grub on the way up. One cop paid for the four of them and got a receipt. Most people don't give a fiddlers about cronyism or corruption. All most people want is another few Euro in their pockets, whether that comes about by more welfare or lower taxes. Nobody votes to make themselves poorer.
