I wonder will Michael Lowry attend for Tipperary *cringe*

Given that we know that TV3 will have to have a huge percentage of the hour as ads, to pay for the damned thing, I think it was a really stupid idea to kill the first almost ten minutes by having a band and first ad break....

Fine to have the band at the yoke and play out the show, but everybody at home is tuning in for the debate, which is going to be short enough with the ads as it is...

There's only 3 TD's in the constituency - 2 of them are Fine Gaelers.

    Good man Conor.

Moynihan has been a TD since 1997 after a quick wiki read. He presumably opposed FF policy all that time, the way he was talking.

If the pre-debate entertainment involves those dancers we saw at the start of the programme, he'll probably turn up.

Yep, as far as I know he came from just across the Cork/Limerick border ..

This has traditionally been the most rural and conservative constituency in the country, but with a more urban population recently with the growth of Ballincollig in the south east of the constituency.

Did ye hear the Pat Kenny/Enda Kenny interview today?

I was so disappointed in Pat, he gave Enda a very easy time of it. It was like a Fine Gael Political Broadcast

Only had one interaction with him in my life.

"I'm just knocking on doors looking for an auld vote"

That was it. Grand job so. It clearly works too. Didn't get a Lowry for Life or Lowry #1 hat though.

Areas around Newmarket, Kanturk, Rockchapel, Bweeng, Banteer, Millstreet etc would be BIG Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael country traditionally .. That independent councillor JP O'Shea who spoke earlier though would walk in - biggest vote in Cork county by far during the last local elections.

It's no coincidence that Denis O'Brien's buddy gets a soft focus interview on Newstalk.

Saw him in a cafe in Limerick two or three weeks back. My first thought was 'oh yeah, you exist'.

    Keep on truckin' Karl.

Michael Lowry was in Ennis for a funeral about 20 years ago, (he was a minister at the time) and he stopped to ask my mother for directions.

She gave him directions to the funeral and he offered her a lift home as it was raining, she declined his offer but she still talks about how much of a gentleman he was lol :D

I'm from Nenagh originally. The killing part about it is, he gan get enough votes from Thurles, Holycross and surrounding areas to get elected. The last time he spoke publicly in Nenagh he was booed off the stage.

Sounds like the sort of report a horse trader would give, he fell short of examining that her teeth were in situ

This should have been held in Ballincollig and it wouldn't be so rural focused.

I recall reports about local media being hounded out of the Anner hotel by fanatical Lowry supporters during the last election. Loopers.

Absolute vast majority of the constituency is rural though - it's a massive constituency, one of the biggest in the country id say.

We need to bring back John, this debate is crying out for him.

Yes it's a massive constituency with many different kinds of areas. Ballincollig is a suburb of the city and then there are the most rural areas in the country.

Moynihan uncomfortable talking about national issues.

Lehman Brothers didnt cause a 20 Billion deficit in the Government coffers... That was YEARS of negligence and incompetence by FF... And if we treat the banking crash as a separate and catastrophic event (as Fianna seem to want to do), nobody in Fianna Fail had the ability or the balls to do anything other than take the path of least resistance that night..
