Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Washing machine drum rocking back and forth against glass door

New washing machine drum seems to rock back and forth when beginning a spin, so that there is a loud banging noise and the machine itself moves forward a few cm!

All feet are properly set and the machine is level.

The load was only approx 4 kg out of 7kg max allowable load.

Happens everytime I put on a wash. Do I need to get it replaced or is there something I can try first?

Should the drum be able to move back and forth by hand? I can move it back and forward approx 1 inch each way. There's a little resistance, but not much.

Are you sure you removed all the transit bolts from the machine?

Yep. Was installed by the Know How guys who removed 4 screws.

I'm going to examine a few washing machines today to see if the drums normally move back and forward 1 inch

I can move mine (15+ year old AEG) back and forth by that much by hand when off, but it doesn't do it while it's working.

ok so when it's starting its rotation does it move even slightly back and forward by 1-2cm?

I noticed that after the large back/forward it seems to move back and forward about 1cm until it's up to 1000rpm where it seems to remain pretty stable.

No, not really, there's a little bit of movement as the contents settle at the start of a spin cycle but not anything that would cause the whole machine to physically move.

Exactly same thing happened with my 3 months old PowerPoint machine. PP engineers came over and they told me its manufacturing fault and they will replace it.

Cheers, I've notified Currys about it. I'm sure there won't be a problem getting a replacement.
