Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Play Movies has just appeared on my phone. Oddly, apart from a free Shaun the Sheep short there's nothing listed under any of the categories yet.

Edit: Actually the store appears to be slowly filling with titles.

It's showing on my Nexus 5 as well. First time I went into movies category the play store force closed but when I reopened it, it asked me to accept a new user agreement or whatever they're called. Looks like we've finally got movies here.

Makes sense seeing as the Chromecast is officially available here now.

Same here on both my devices

Finally, we are no longer a 3rd world country :)

Edit; doesn't seem to have Chromecast support!

Thought I noticed it earlier tonight, but Play kept crashing when I tried to click on it. Working like a charm now :D

Have a UK account on my devices and it looks like we are just missing Newsstand now from the Irish accounts.
Good to get the Movies though so that's a start.

Had a new ToS message for the playstore tonight, but no movies yet.

Irish account, yes! I've had it for many months, maybe before the new year.
I'm talking about an app called play newsstand, that replaced google currents.

Are we talking about the same thing? :)

I got it as well as I rebuilt my phone. Thought I'd broken the damn thing.

Play Movies doesn't allow for rentals, just purchases, right?

Completely forgot about the Newstand app.

I thought you meant Newstand content in the Play Store.

Yes, I thought you might have been talking about that alright, sorry if I was misleading!

You mean the ability to buy magazine subscriptions and the like?

It's a mixture. Some things you can rent or buy, others you can only buy. There also seems to be some you can buy in either SD or HD.

If you purchase a movie, can you transfer it to your laptop and watch it there using, say, VLC player? Or to a NAS drive and watch it using XBMC?

Boardsie Enhancement Suite - a browser extension to make using Boards on desktop a better experience (includes full-width display, keyboard shortcuts, dark mode, and more). Now available through your browser's extension store.

And the movie industry wonders why there's so much piracy

Took me a while to get rid of that one.
I uninstalled updates and wiped data. did that a few times and eventually I got it working.

I had Transformers from when the Nexus 7 came out (iirc) and got Shaun the Sheep free last night when the movies became available.

Did they just show up in the play movies or did you have to search for them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,657 ✭✭✭corkie

I also have transformers from when I bought the Nexus 7(2012)

Shaun The Sheep - The Big Chase (7 mins) was also offered to me today when I clicked on my movies.

Don't see any method to download videos, so you have to be online to watch even films you buy.

How to download movies for offline viewing

Chromecast worked from play movies on my Nexus 7.

Jeez, they could have come up with something better than shaun the sheep.

My mistake,it wasn't there when I went to play movies via the play store, but when I launched the actual app it was there, very impressed with the quality, but does anyone think the movies to buy are a bit pricey?
