This thread is for discussion of the SPARK operating system on ST7162 Based Satellite & Terrestrial Combo Receivers

The boxes covered would be the
    Amiko Alien2
    SAB Unix Tripple
    GM Triplex

Spark is the default, out of the box, operating system on these boxes. Spark is a basic, stable, operating system for those who possibly just want a simple box, which you can watch both Satellite and Terrestrial channels.

Why would anyone flash an unofficial spark? People use spark as it's simple, from the manufacturer and gets updates

The instructional PDF that comes down with every download off the official site has a rescue image link in it.

    Thanks Lads for the replies,

I did an upgrade yesterday via spark portal and it upgraded to latest version but when today i said Id chance Zardoz's HDMU image it was stuck in bootloop. Reading through threads I found out only the 1.2.51 firmware version is reliable for booting images.

Anyways just there now, I have successfully downgraded to this version and Im going try re-flash enigma image now.

For anyone who might have a similar situation in the future this is where I got the 1.2.51 firmware from:

I don't have this box long though.

Is it possible put fresh E2 Images on with the latest spark firmware for you? This is only my second image to flash and it didn't go on with the newest firmware but did to the one I just installed? However i don't like the spark one i just installed much rather the newest one that i did have.

So say with the newest spark firmware with the E2 upgrade plugin, can you switch between say Hyperion to HDMU / Open Pli / ARP etc??

Thats what wouldn't happen earlier today when i tried from Hyperion to HDMU.

It more Likely a problem with the Hdmu Image its old and i remember it crashed on updating when i used it

install the Latest Spark and flash whatever enigma image from there.

you can then use spark as a back up if u get any problems with enigma 2

i use spark all the time as for watching tv and recording its the most stable and versatile ie switching hard drives etc

Yes I was thinking it may be the image. I was using givecredit's hyperion 4 image with little problem for a while.

I will install to latest spark and try to upgrade a different image from there and I will report back later to tell of my findings!

1.2.51 was an upgrade to the bootloader, if you haven't flashed it you need to, you can flash the newer version after, stores may still have older boxes in stock that never got the bootloader update. It fixes issues when booting Enigma

No idea, when using Enigma it doesn't matter as long as you have installed Spark 1.2.51, my box is still on that

Just booted to Spark to check, mine is the same, my firmware is from Jan 2013 so obviously if you're on the latest there's been no bootloader update since

    Thanks for the advise Nowso,

I upgraded spark and successfully flashed another Hyperion Image.
The HDMU Image must have had some kind of flaw in it, It was bizzare.
Now just to configure enigma and spark!

The Bootloader I have is of the same version that you have, It can be found in the link I provided earlier. You can make back-ups with this bootloader version too, I have read you cant with certain versions of it.

As mentioned by same ol sh1te, you have downgrade to install it then upgade again.

    Thanks Lads

Cool, I will have to use it as a base though as I have a 13E, 19E & 28.2E Diseqc setting. Unless you have a list for Multi-Sat? It's ok if you don't I can add to your 28.2E channel list.

I never used Spark 1.2.51 and can flash enigma images no bother .
Always used newer versions of Spark, there is no need to downgrade.

I did find that the best way to flash the enigma image is when it is on the root of the usb drive ,if I flashed it from a folder it often stayed at BOOT .
