Thanks for the picons gents.... just sayin' though that the Saorview picons are not consistent in terms of visual look or whatever with the Satellite channel picons, some Saorviews have different backgrounds, some have framed edges.

I like the 'complete set' in Technofobes second link. The channel names have a clear stand-out font, most of the time, however the Saorview ones jar in comparison because I guess someone else made them and just added them in.

I suppose I could teach myself Paint Shop Pro or whatever and try to make my own that fit in with the others.

    Flex

How are you converting the picons to Spark icons?

Spark has a different naming convention than E2.

Edit: I see you can use Spark Editor 1.7 for that. I was running 1.6.

I'm having problems getting my box to recognise any form of USB storage. Have tried multiple USB keys and and also Samsung M3 HDD. Have tried in spark and Enigma but cannot get it to recognise. PVR settings greyed out..

Have tried telnet and fdisk -l but command not recognised..

    Any ideas ?

I cant format it in Spark as the system is not seeing the HDD ?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,534 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

format the drive on your laptop/pc to ntfs

    then it should recognize it

Gone Back to Firmware 1.2.75 as beta 1.2.76 is buggy

  • Registered Users Posts: 74 ✭✭tippgaafan

I have tried all the recommendations above.
HDD currently formatted as NTFS. Spark is still not recognising it.

    Results of fdisk-l:

    [root@stlinux]#fdisk -l

    Disk /dev/mtdblock0: 1 MB, 1048576 bytes
    255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 0 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Disk /dev/mtdblock0 doesn't contain a valid partition table
    [root@stlinux]#

Any more ideas before I give up ?

So your USB key is 1MB in size and doesn't have a partition table... That drive isn't formatted correctly.

I suggest you get a program like EaseUS Partition Master Home Edition (my free version is 9.1.1). It will give a nice graphical view of your USB Key and the partitions, if any, that are on it and allow you to re-format it to whatever you want such as NTFS or EXT3 with a simple point and click interface. Do a small bit of googling to learn what a "partition" is if you don't know.

    Disk /dev/mtdblock0: 1 MB, 1048576 bytes

I think that this is referring to the internal memory ?
Formatted the HDD to EXT3 using EaseUS, still no joy.

Will return box and see if it can be repaired.
    Thanks for the help..

Returned the box and exchanged for a new one. No more USB issues.

    New problem
: After installing an enigma image, I seem to have lost the multiboot option. I cant select spark on front panel. Holding in the "OK" button while powering up, but system goes straight to boot (Enigma).

  • Registered Users Posts: 419 ✭✭FlexMcMurphy

Are you definitely doing it right?

Turn off the box using switch at the back. Press and hold the OK button on the box and turn on the power switch, keep the OK button pressed until a boot menu appears on the display. Arrow UP to make 'Spark' appear on the display, arrow down until 'enigma2' is displayed. Press OK to select one or the other.

If this still doesn't work then you should probably contact the seller... again.

yes try again spark is needed even to run enigma its good 2 have it

  • Registered Users Posts: 74 ✭✭tippgaafan

I've followed the same procedure as before.
Contiunue's to boot even with "Ok" button held in.

It was working prior to installing a new enigma image.

  • Registered Users Posts: 419 ✭✭FlexMcMurphy

If you are doing everything correctly then..

    1. The OK button on your box may be broken.
    2. You may have corrupted Flash memory stopping the boat loader program from allowing you to switch between Spark and Enigma2. An issue such as is discussed here possibly.

I was going to suggest you install an old version of Spark such as version 1.2.51 which included an E2 Boot Upgrader and might fix your problem but if you can't get 'FORC' to appear on the box with OK button held in on boot up from cold then I can't think of any way for you to boot into Spark to do a Spark upgrade from within the OS or to even upgrade Spark directly from a USB key.

You may have no choice but to go back to the seller and if loading enigma2 caused the problem then they may not replace the unit for free this time.
