the spark rescue image takes about 8 or 9 minutes to load .

install that n go from there

add it to a usb stick and have the spark folder on it with the 2 files inside
yep tried all that but as i mentioned before i get an eyy message on the display after about 5 mins.
ive just flashed an openatv image on it and it seems to be ok on the enigma side of things

My Alien2 ( Hyperion 4.5) is misbehaving when I try to record. It says

"In order to record a timer the TV has switched to the recording service" .

    Then is does not record.

Prevoiusly it would record no bother . I have the same usb Hard Drive I've always used.

I decided to format the drive. Can't do that in Hyperion 4.5 ? I thought I was able to do that before ............

See ! It's worked so reliable for yonks , I've forgotten all I knew about it :(

What's the best course of action ?

maybe reflash the image . have u a back up

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,548 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

You would normally only get that message if both tuners were busy and it needed one for a timer.
1 Are you trying to stream while recording?
2 Check both tuners are getting a feed from the dish
I doubt it is the HDDs fault.
As Nowso suggests, its never any harm to reflash a backup image if you have one.

    1. No
    2. Only one tuner is fed by cable. I don't need to record one channel and watch another.
    3. Tonite , after powering off and on , it failed to recognise my Hard Drive.

Before flashing an image, I think I need to check the HardDrive .

My current image is installed so long now, I don't have a backup available. I need to source another copy. Where is the latest available image (Hyperion 4.5 is my current one - maybe Zardos ? ) .

Unplug the disc and reformat on a pc if it is not in ext format. If it is you will need some extra software to do this. I use EasyUs partition manager. There are disc tools in Pkt blue panel but they're a bit confusing. Once formatted in FAT, NTFS or EXT2 plug it back in and reboot. Your disk may be developing faulty sectors, a full format might sort this if the problem is minor. Check that automount is on is box disc settings. The box may have reassigned some devices back to flash, if it boots and doesn't detect an actual hard disc. Use blue panel or WebIf to check that hdd is the actual disc in terms of memory capacity etc. Manually mount and assign to Hdd if necessary.
As the Enigma2 thread was closed by the Mod recently for cs talk, I've started a new one for these boxes here,

I formatted the hard drive and reinstalled Hyperion 4.5. Problem solved .

    Thanks.

Now that it's up and running correctly again, don't forget to make a backup, just in case.

I've been playing around with some of the app features on Spark but not having any success. mainly the Super iptv & web tv in the network menu. Anyone get these working properly? there are a few youtube vids out there but very few so looks like quite uncommon.

Youtube - you can set area , time peroid and search a video and it will play any youtube video

web tv works great i use it

if u have an m3u iptv playlist add it to your hdd / usb then Folder to load an xml or m3u File select it from your drive and it loads the channel list and then you can play the video streams

Calling a Linux Head - I've an OpenATV 5.3 Enigma2 based question but with the other thread closed, I'll hopefully get an answer here :)

I can FTP and HTTP to a box but when I try and Telnet, from the SAME Lan, I get connection refused. I've also tried SSH but no joy with it either. I've no direct access to the box now to directly connect to it. I checked the /etc/services file and it has Telnet correctly listed as Port 23. I can pull a copy of any file off the box and if necessary, change it remotely, and put it back again.

    Any thoughts ?

theres more security on images now

you can not openly port forward without security on the latest images

I have been having issues with spark and network. When I connect with a vonets on wired, seems to work fine but when go into spark to see if there's a software upgrade says login failed. Youtube works ok but it doesn't play known file on webtv.
I've tried to use wifi dongle - it's seeing the network but it wont connect.
Only thing I can think of is I've a new router but how could that affect it?
Has me stomped - exact same symptoms on alien mini & triplex spark.
The wifi dongle works on a ibox2 stb on E2.

the amiko wifi dongle works on fergusons , not all the boxs

the update portal is down atm that 1.2.83 is the latest

    youtube works

web tv files work via an m3u playlist format which is more popular - you can look up that format and use that , its quite good at playing iptv

Do u use web tv or superiptv? I av a m3u channel list but im not sure of which type to use. Should type b m3u or spark or something else and should the output be ts?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,534 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

    you use web tv

put it on your usb/drive . commect to the box . open web tv

hit the folder button go down to find the playlist / or xml file and press ok it will load your downloaded playlist

channel up/ down goes up down 10 channels . it plays iptv much better than enigma 2 no slowing down .

Have you a fixed ip address on the box? Try dhcp in case some other device is trying to use same ip. If using telnet from command line explicitly add the :23 port no to the box ip. I use advance ip scanner to see device ips and available ports and protocols.
    https://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com/
Test nowsos theory by loading up an older image or change the box telnet port to a temporary number and try telnet with this number added to the ip. The Enigma2 thread is restarted here btw.

Thanks nowso got the m3u file to load and the channel list loads but anytime I try and play a channel I get Error: Start play failed! The same file works fine within kodi so I can only think spark jus cant handle the video format
