    tried it still not working
    Bummer
    What version are you using

are you using a usb key or hdd
In config are you only using sky uk open tv astra2 on 28.2

  • Registered Users Posts: 179 ✭✭dav32cs

    tried it still not working

Make sure both your tuners are working.

Or go in and disable second sat tuner and then re run to see if it will run.

    Sorry went off for dinner
Glad to see you got sorted
the real test will be when you record 2 hd channels at same time see if the drive is up for it :-)
But looking good if its showing as an destination for cross epg
    Well done

I am unable to record anything. hdd missing or not initialised!!

    Any ideas?

    Is it still mounted ?

If so try using left or right arrow see if there is any other option other than sda1 pretty sure mine used to say the make of the drive ( maxtor )

If there is select it and mount
Then put on a channel and press record if it does not recognise the drive it will say something like the message not initalised

if it can see the drive it will ask what kind of recording once or repeated

Did you power down the box last night
as in do you switch it off at the wall when not in use
after a power down you would need to remount the drive
if you just switch off with the remot you dont need to remount

    Also box is alien 1

did you mount the drive after you rebooted the box
or do you have any other usb key you can test

What drive do you have it configured for in Crossepg ?

I prefer to set it as the name of the drive not the /hdd option which doesn't work well .

Got it sorted. Didn't realise that if I press menu on record path in settings that I could deleted and add bookmarks. Created movie directory in media/sda1/.

Recorded 2 HD channels at the same time and the box became very slow like you suggested it would. I take that happens to everyone when they try record two HD channels?

    Thanks again.

did you take that pic while recording
just asking as when your recording you are using a tuner
so if your recording 2 satellite programmes you will be using 2 tuners leaving no free tuner except the terrestial
so the other sat programmes appear greyed out

This applies of course only if the pic was taken during the recording test

if you were not recording at the time then thats a different scenario

    see sylvester's post above

Even tried to download it to hdd just to see would it work and it won't do it either.all channels work just not the epg.strange

I'm just coping and pasting, but report back if the following helps

Crossepg seems to be one of the main sources of issues with these systems. I've had a similar problems. The belt and braces way to sort it is (I have found):
    1. Delete the crossepg folder
    2. Delete the epg.dat file separate to the crossepg folder
    3. Uninstall the crossepg plugin
    4. Ftp in updated satellite.xml file
    5. Reboot
    6. Rescan your sat channels (do not clear )
    7. Download and install the crossepg plugin.
    8. Reboot
    9. Configure to use hdd, and astra 28.2

Not all the steps are needed, but as I said, its a belt and braces approach that works for me.

Do as Slevster says or run ABM(doesn't need to do sat scan)

I am also having trouble mounting my 500gb USB HD on Hyperion 4.5

It worked fine before i updated to 4.5 but it might be something I am doing wrong.

is there an instruction anywhere on how to mount a HD?

Start by changing the record, timeshift, and crossepg paths away from hdd or media/ hdd. Leave the field blank.Go to blue panel and mount manager, and Unmount all devices. Scan for devices and mount the main partition as hdd.if you have more than one, it might be a good time to unformat your disk, delete all partitions, then reformat as a single blank partition. You'll need something like EaseUs disk manager to access an ext3 disk on a PC. Once the partition is mounted, reboot. Then set the paths for record, timeshift and cross to hdd..reboot again. Now check if you can record a short clip.disable timeshift or autotimeshift. A single tuner box that is timeshift recording has no tuner available for epg download. Then try cross download. If cross still not downloading though the disk mount is good, download a fresh satellites.xml file, ftp to box, and do a rescan. This should ensure the epg tp is in the services list, this is the sat channel which carries all the epg data. Ensure cross providers is sky_astra28.2 only. Reboot again and retry cross download.

Regarding the download and install of crossepg plugin - can someone point me at a location to download it from, and what version to download? I did google it, and ended up on one site (which I can't now find), but it had many versions and I wasn't sure which to choose. I'm running the zardoz hyperion 4.5 image, and can't get the epg to work. Thanks!

    What is ABM? :confused::confused::D:D

Too many channels to go through them individually! Will have to do a fun scan, would the best way to do it be, seetings - tunner config - Automatic scan ?

I've saved my bouquet of dreamboxedit, so when the scan is finished, do I just send my saved bouquet back onto the box?

ABM is not a United hate plugin, it is autoboquet maker I guess, a different plugin from autoboquets. The second one scans for tp changes, updates service list and creates a default sky type bouquet structure. ABM I assume is a tool for organising channels already scanned and in your service list.

What are the best options to have ticked when doing a ABM (Auto bouteq) scan.

What would be the best way to get all channels back "(ungreyed)" and get rid of duplicate channels. When I do a auto scan on tunner it pulls in about 700 + channels! Is there something I should be doing differently to only get working channels etc?
