Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Both going for it, I wouldn't call a foul either way.

Never a foul by Higuain but also never a foul by Neuer. Comparing it to Schumacher's challenge is ridiculous.

Refs should have the option of taking the big screen replay into account.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

    Schumacher would be proud

He's probably not watching. Sure he's still pretty much on a coma.

Echoes of Battiston & Schumacher from France v Germany in '82 with that tackle from Neuer on Higuaín

Lawrenson is a joke of a co commentator and pundit. No idea why is so much in demand for such a long time.

Not sure how else he's supposed to get the ball there. Never a free out though.

He couldn't and the fact that he tried made it a reckless challenge. Booking at least

Refs should have the option of taking the big screen replay into account.

Problem then is if the big screen producer is biased.

Would have to have FIFA officials choosing replays.

If Neuer came for the ball like that on the penalty spot and punched clear nothing would be said. As it is though he got a full head of steam up and Higuain was always going to come off worse.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35,514 ✭✭✭✭efb

    It was deflected behind ozil

    penalty!

Never a foul by Higuain but also never a foul by Neuer. Comparing it to Schumacher's challenge is ridiculous.

If jumping in to a tackle with both feet off the ground is a red, even if you make contact with the ball first, than that should have been a red. The keeper also has a responsibility for the safety of the opposing player.

I'll never forget the last WC where he was giving out about the amount Polish born players on the German team - this coming from Mark "Born in Preston but played for the Republic of Ireland" Lawrenson

Mascherano not having a great game tonight.

Messi choking in big game. Just shows that the quality of player around him at Barcelona makes him look better than he is.

    I have money on Argentina...

He's been anonymous in this second half alright.

I think the point of a blitzkrieg is that no-one expects it.

It's kinda like the Spanish inquisition that way.

It's not like yossi is playing. That only works for him.

The flow is gone from the game. Lots of fouls and frees. Slowly fizzzling out. It needs a goal to get the excitement back.

    False!

People were written to attend the Spanish Inquisition (QI fact)

Right, time to Germany to win this. Argentina look a bit jaded, bit more sloppy in their passing this half, and Aguero doesn't look like he's going to be the difference here.
