Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Spotted this on Snapchat's "Brazil Final Live" worldwide story... A couple of GAA jerseys thrown in there randomly!

Some Kerry man must be in Brazil at the moment supporting Argentina, that's pretty insane!

I think he's referring to the West Germany thing

Predicting a German defender to get sent off and Argentina to win it with Messi showing why he is the best player on the planet.

Looking forward to this. Has been a fantastic tournament. Should be a great game. Think Germany will win it.

I'll be cheering on Argentina but Germany are heavy favourites. Argentina have not been too impressive at all.

Good and all as he is, I'm tired of the Messi hype. He's won as much as he deserves with Barca. He hasn't proven much with Argentina.

As for the final, I expect Germany to tough out a win. They've gelled well through the tournament, and like Bayern they've developed a physical and skilful way of playing. They seem to be low on injuries and had a relatively undemanding semi. The longer the match goes on the better they'll fare, even if it goes to extra time.

Going for an argentina win hope their passionate fans can push them over the line against the best team in the tournament.

Germany are clear favourites tonight, no other team has shown the same level of cohesion and balance across their starting 11, I'd like to see Messi play a blinder but Argentina's fragility at the back (apart from Mascherano who had a sensational last game) will be their undoing imo.

Argentina haven't conceded a goal apart from against Nigeria when they were already guaranteed top of the group. They've looked pretty comfortable with their noses in front, just doing enough. Been very very good defensively.

Conceded against Bosnia as well to be fair

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Hopefully Germany win, they gave us such great matches as seen in the semifinal and the match against Algeria.

    Argentina, boring in comparison.

In the interest of justice I hope Germany win, they've been the best team at this World Cup

I don't think Ghana or Algeria would agree. Not great at all until Brazil game in fairness

True that, forgot about that one. A consolation in the last few mins. They haven't conceded when it's counted.

Hard to believe its 24 years since (West) Germany won it last.

It's always hard to follow up a goalfest with another good performance, but I think they will have the edge tonight. They've played consistently well this year. Germany to win their first title, 3-1.

The sound in the closing ceremony, like the opening ceremony, is atrocious.

And of course its not a world cup without shakira!

Closing ceremony was better than the Opening I think.

Sound was equally bad of course.

At this moment in time it'll be these three. The other 3 will be on at 7 after they get their biscuits.

I think Germany are an industrious side, Brazil were muck so that result counts for little imo. Germany are the favourites here, I think it will be very tight but Argentina will nose it.

Did dunphy say overtime instead of extra time??

Hope Argentina win, mainly to see what Messi has to do next to be acknowledged as the best player in the world. But I also wouldn't begrudge players like Lahm and Shweinsteiger the win as they have been phenomenal over the last 8-10 years.

Really want Germany to win. Don't think I could handle the Messi love in, as if he won it on his own.

Is it fair to say that a win for Argentina tonight would be a victory for defensive football whilst a German win would see attacking and entertainment football prevail?

Do we really need people to come in here and post every slight error that they may make?

That German midfield is extremely intimidating, Di Maria is a big miss for the Argentines.

I'm an atheist and think Germany will wn.
