Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Great game and end to end stuff but Argentina definitely the better looking side for most of the first half despite late threats.
    Just not taking their chances.
The longer Germany go without scoring the more volatile they look.

Slighty better than the last time these two teams played each other in a WC final.

Great game so far. 0-0 at half time.

Lucky Argentina there. 1-0 just before the break would have been harsh. Great first half!

He persisted with a CB playing LB did he, who has been one of Germany's poorer players all tournament, one should have been sent off not long ago in a World Cup Final for a moment of pure stupidity?

Will be very surprised if Klose doesn't score in the second half. One of these crosses will stick.

Germans looking the more likely to score first I think but a great game so far.

    Officiating is spot-on too tonight.

Who ever said finals were cagy games? This world cup had 3 or 4 0-0 games that were end to end.

Enjoyable first half, for 0-0 match. Argentina has still a good chance, they can punish the Germans on the counter attack. Khedira and Kramer could be big losses for them. However my money would still be on Germany to win.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,017 ✭✭✭Chagan

Great first half, Germans aren't as assured as I thought they would be and Messi has been sharp.

Could go either way in the second half, that's good enough for me.

    It is when your German.

The Argies are matching the Germans physically, both in strength and pace. Their defending is very impressive, echoes of the Italy of yore. By contrast, some of the German tackling has been clumsy. They lost their shape and got it back again in the last ten minutes.

Presumably because he would like Germany to win.

Alan Shearer wearing black trousers with a navy jacket that's too big for him, can't take him seriously.

Any chance of Di Maria coming on?

A German wouldn't say "Your german" .....would they?

Just be thankful that Brazil aren't in the final. After the groups I had a sick feeling they'd win it.

One thing we can be sure of is that no one that speaks German could be evil anyway.

If German is their first language, possibly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,154 ✭✭✭letowski

Howedes can be got at by Argentina. He is slow and on a yellow now. He hasn't always looked comfortable on the left of defence. Id be attacking through Lavezzi alot in the 2nd half, hopefully di Maria can get a good run too.

Nah.......you normally don't learn bad grammar with a second language.

    It's not :o

Its just a bad bad grammatical error.

That was the best first half of football I've seen in a World Cup final for many a long year. Hopefully the second half will match it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,231 ✭✭✭Hercule Poirot

Sabella has to tell his players to pick up the ball and run like f**k at Howedes and Schweinsteiger (sp?)

Germany really missing the energy of Khedira in midfield.

BBC giving no praise at all to a great first half from Lavezzi. Any different on RTE ?

What about Ferdinand then? Is he going for a job interview at Easyjet?

Eamo reckons Batistuta will be the difference in the 2nd half.

Cant wait for the second half.

Impressed by Argentina's approach, they are going for it.

Fascinated to see what Germany do in 2nd half.

Some of his runs he is getting some real product from it. He kept the ball superbly that half.
