no I don't so I wouldn't use such a weighted word to describe what is going on.

wouldn't surprise me if it was true is all. though wouldn't surprise me either if he's doing what you say, that's what they're like after all.

Hope those conversations turn into deals...

"Latest from the Emirates by the Ornacle

"Barring a late surprise, Arsenal are highly unlikely to make any signings before the transfer window closes. They remain in a number of conversations as they search for a back-up central defender and a holding midfielder, but currently it looks like nobody will be arriving at Emirates Stadium. So that also means no new striker despite the absence of Olivier Giroud until the new year through injury.
"The Gunners have singed Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers and David Ospina this summer. There could be a couple of squad players leaving the club before the 11pm deadline.""

Meh, 30 seconds of clicking isn't what I'd call stalking. Though unless I've to bring a change of underwear I don't generally considering anything stalking.

If we don't make any meaningful signings is there any chance that people will agree that I've been realistic rather than pessimistic? Or is that just too much to ask?

I'd agree that you've been realistic, it's just that you go about it in such a pretentious and dickish manner that people have no time for you.

Just to confirm we now have 3 centre backs on the books, total. One of which is 18 years old.

    Defensive options:
    LB: Gibbs, Monreal
    CB: Mertesacker, Koscielny, Chambers
    RB: Debuchy, Bellerin

    Awful

He's actually 19, so were grand :pac:

Its very disappointing if thats us done. Fingers crossed there'll be something decent pulled out of the bag.

He's need to pull a coup out of the bag he needs:

A top class Striker or at best a proven one

A defensive midfielder that approves on what we got

    A back up Defender.

Anything less then that I say he will be under pressure cause I can't see us pulling off a Challenege with what we have right now.

I think this is the best position to take at the moment. That way if anyone is signed it's a bonus.

(*unless its Wellbeck, then its pitchfork and torches for all!)

And Arteta and Flamini as DM's.
Aging and slow. OK for the lower EPL teams or the Carling Cup but as shown time and again last season not for the big boys.

Let's make up some of wenger's excuses for not signing a Striker

"The Value wasn't there, I'm sure Sanogo will get 5 goals this season. 4th is the new 1st"

4th is our first. Has been for years. Looks like we were stupid to think it would change.

it was the same for the last 2 seasons, we will be overrun by the top sides and if we're lucky we sneak into 4th. I think Wenger is far too comfortable in his throne

To be fair the celebrations were more down to the fact we nearly didn't make 4th rather than solely being because we came 4th. Still sucks that that's what we've been reduced to though.

I hate see our club reduced to that, for me once we sold Van Persie to Utd we lost the big club feel. It's all down to Wenger wanting to prove the big spenders wrong you can win a league with shrewd buys and young players. You can't you need to spend over the 50 millions to buy the big game changers nowadays. Wenger is our saviour in ways but our downfall in others.

This. If we didn't get CL then we would have slid further down the pecking order especially when we didn't have to cash to splash.

I really hope we are here tomorrow going "Wenger you sly dog you, that was a great bit of poker you played!"

I refuse to believe we aren't getting in a defender. Migual left today too. He's useless but at least its someone who can play there. Trying to make do with Kos, Mert and Chambers until January is a really stupid move and questions will be (rightly imo) asked of Wenger if thats what it comes to

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,984 ✭✭✭Soups123

This Wenger ref'in a game in Italy is getting my goat more than the lack of signings.

It really is a I couldn't give a fcuk attitude and ridiculous PR wise.

    It really shocking

The excuse at the time was that things were going to change once 4th was got. Sigh.

Just out of interest, between Puma, TV increases, Emirates deal updating, how much extra cash is that on the books? The money has to be being used for something and while it'd be nice to keep hoping it'll go on the pitch it's getting a bit harder to believe all the time.

According to Tim Stillman there was close on 200m at the start the transfer window. Not all available for transfers but I believe there is 65 -80 million there now for transfers

I think it's a fair point. We're supposed to have money to reinvest in the squad. If we're not then where's it going.

Just read nastastic linked to you on loan, but also elsewhere and despite him probably being the best 4th choice you could hope for I'd imagine he wouldn't leave city to be 3/4th choice

Just saw that too, I think he would get plenty of game time as Chambers is back up to 3 of the back 4 at the moment. Also like Bony it would be a no brainer to go for him at this stage imo.

It seems we're interested in Nastasic

"A cluster of clubs, including Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle United have enquired about a loan deal for Matija Nastasic. Juventus and Marseille have also taken an interest." BBC Sport.
