Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Spurs target Danny Welbeck is currently trying to force through a move to Arsenal (via @JamesOlley) http://www.itv.com/sport/football/update/2014-09-01/welbeck-heading-to-arsenal/

    Gonçalo Lopes ‏@_GoncaloLopes 2m
Arsenal made a late offer for William Carvalho. Too short.
    Torres Vedras

If we landed both these players I'd be somewhat more happy. Somewhat.

We have done some really good business. Ospina provides a great back up. Debuchy had slotted in seamlessly, chambers looks a real prospect, and Alexis needs no introduction.

Walcott will be like a new signing when he gets back. He really took a step on last year. Podolski and Joel look set to stay ?

CB is a must and a top DM is needed.

    Ah nooooooooo

Put it up to 55 million, I doubt they turn that down. The guy is still young and will be worth every penny. At least it be a signing that get us foaming at the mouth.

At only 25 he would repay that. Would be great to get him, have to admire his loyalty. I really thought he would engineer a move from Dortmund.

This is a fcuking joke. Wenger gets worse each year. Builds our hopes up then kicks us in the nuts. And it hurts.

If true it just makes no sense and screams of the club trying to say look we tried. Knowing it would never be accepted.

They could have negotiated that one all summer why leave it till the last day then at the same time ignore someone like Falcao who was readily available today.

Just saw that Falcao is getting £346,000 per week.
Maybe we just weren't prepared to offer that kind of wage???
I still think we never tried but at that wage there is no way in hell we'd have bought him

Yea he is but for one year if he bang in the goals be worth it if they decide to sign him they can negotiate a contract.

I think his heart is set on Madrid Barca or Bayern, none never put a bid in cause of his injury. Many touted him as Germany best player before his injury ruled him out of the World cup. He's a amazing talent and if we get him. I think he could change our fortunes.

    Fcuk sake :(.

Waiting for players to become available trying to sign Wellbeck.

Better than Sanogo but hardly inspiring.

    United trolling us.

The Welbeck rumours aren't true, he signed for Tesco earlier

Not a bad signing, could have been worse. Better then Sanogo at least.

    Welbeck?

    Really?

    :(

He'll do, whatever. Now get Carvalho!

That'll do, now a DMF/CB and I reckon we have enough for a good season. Provided we actually start playing like we know we can that is...

Christ wept, Wellbeck ffs how has it ended at this!

    Welbeck will outscore Falcao.

I'll take that if it's going Blobby.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 126 ✭✭Moat_Cailin

Welbeck has some talent . A lot of pace and decent movement. Far from top class, can be a headless chicken at times and needs to improve his finishing and get more goals. I do think playing behind our midfield he would score goals. How many ? Let's see.

*takes cover for incoming Marty Mcfly reply*

    :D

He got his bad reputation playing on the wing. Playing as a striker he got 6 goals in 6 games.

TBF hes better than Sanogo and has great athleticism, doesn't exactly scream title contenders though..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,216 ✭✭✭Looper007

I'm not disappointed with that signing to be fair. I won't deny that I expected better but he should do a job for us.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,209 ✭✭✭Redzer7

Good signing, improves the squad, get a massive CDM and a decent CB now!

Shocked bayern haven't snapped him up. I know his injury may have stopped potential deals.

I'm actually ok with welbeck. He is a donkey but he is a donkey used to Brighton pier with his premiership experience whereas Sanogo is just a donkey.

I actually could see him being a revelation under Arsene. Now a DMF and a CB please.

    Fingers crossed...

If we indeed sign Welbeck then it is certainly a 100% upgrade from Sanogo.

Any decent striker is what we need for now considering our talented Midfield.

What we need desperately is a strong and intelligent DM and a replacement for Verm

    I am happy with Danny

    In which game exactly?

At this stage I'm ok(ish) with Welbeck. If Giroud had stayed fit we would see him as a decent addition depth wise.

Happy enough with Welbeck, even happier if the rumours are true that he turned up at our training ground to force the move through ahead of Spurs...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,819 ✭✭✭liam7831

How embarrassing, Utd get Falcoa, Chelsea get Costa, Liverpool get Balotelli, Arsenal sign Bendtners replacement, suppose the No. 52 jerysey is waiting for him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,012 ✭✭✭✭Alfred Borden

6 million loan, if you dont laugh you will cry

I'm also good with Welbeck. Not the marquee signing some want but he could very well do the job.

  • Administrators, Computer Games Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,410 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Mickeroo

Don't get why they're going for a loan and not a permanent deal.

I don't think that's the case. The England team is training there.

Not happy that this is a loan deal though :-/

How much is the loan fee for Falcao again?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,264 ✭✭✭✭jester77

Wellbeck, really hope someone is just taking the piss out of us. Embarrassing wouldn't be word to describe a deal like that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,608 ✭✭✭cathalio11

Equally annoyed if this is a loan deal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,608 ✭✭✭cathalio11

6 million but United will end up paying around 15 million in wages.

    Welbeck?

Home-grown so it means room for another signing.

Never really rated him myself but maybe he never got the chance at Utd., maybe it never suited him. Fits with the British core.

Possibly because it is just a short term solution

    Any chance of a CB??

Same. If it's a 4-6 mill fee why not pay the transfer fee. Obviously there's something to it.

Welbeck threatened to take a step up last year , let's hope he can.

How much will we pay Welbeck? Thought I read elsewhere United won't have to cover the full wages.
