Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We won't see Walcott for about 6 weeks.

I thought he's back mid September.

Would have liken if we went for Matuidi

This is nowhere near as bad as the Silvestre signing. At least Welbeck isn't past his prime. Also, feels good to snatch one away from the neighbours.

From Suarez to welbeck in one year.

Read that he's back on the 21st but won't be match fit for several weeks after.
When Arsenal say 3 weeks it's usually a lot more.

Not sure where you're getting your confidence in him from. I sincerely hope you're proven right though.

Bit of luck bud. I'm really hoping for a CDM and a CB before it shuts but really think I'm asking for too much, which is a shame.

I can't see it to be fair, hope i'm wrong but I think the Striker is the only signing.

We can now put out a Carling Cup British 11 (if you include loans)

    Macey
    Jenkinson-Chambers-Hayden-Gibbs
    Ramsey-Wilshere-The Ox
    Welbeck-Afobe-Walcott

    Subs: Akpom-Jebb-

    That's some good sensationalism there.

I despise Welbeck and i'm going to be sick if i see him in an Arsenal jersey. Good signing or bad signing Wenger has again failed to sign cover where it is needed and if Welbeck Sanchez and Walcott bag 20 goals each it won't be enough to counter the goals we will concede, 4th place it is lads.

yeah but give him as much match time he will get better. Having him back will be a major boost.

Hope so mate. I'll be behind him anyway, seems he did his part to get the move to us.

True though, we bid for Suarez a year ago,now we bid for welbeck.

He might turn out to be your Sturridge. He just needs to improve his accuracy and he should come good. Plus he has the pace arsenal are lacking.

The fact it seems the lad wanted a permanent move to us is important. Usually there's a stupid premium on young English players so the fee sounds decent. Another home grown player too and very experienced at the highest level. He's a PL winner too.

Look we didn't think we were getting a CF so I'm happy enough. A CB and/or a DM and job done.

While it may be true, both bids came about under totally different circumstances. We ended up with ozil anyway which was pretty sweet.

As Denman just mentioned, Walcott is returning soon. A player who can play up forward. If we are getting a striker it needs to be an out an out striker. Welbecks stats show he most likely can not deliver that so what does he bring to the team apart from another forward?
I'm seeing Walcott is due back on 20th September, may as well call it October before he's actually back (at the earliest). Until then it's City, Dortmund, Villa, Southampton, Spurs then Galatasaray on the 1st of October and Chelsea on the 5th. Gonna be throwing him in at the deep end.

If we go from Sept - Dec with 3 first team Centre Halves that's absolutely shocking negligence from AW and the powers that be at Arsenal. If two of them get injured/suspended at the same time where are we at? Literally? Playing Monreal at CB? What if, as is entirely possible, Gibbo is out at the same time? Flamini LB and hope for the best.

    Same bollocks, different year.

    2 goals in 40 appearances.

    Sanogo 0 goals. so it's a upgrade.

I suppose that's one way of looking at it.

    2 goals in 40 appearances.

How about 9 PL goals in 25 PL games last season?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,209 ✭✭✭Redzer7

    2 goals in 40 appearances.

Update your stats there, no point in taking stats from 3 years ago?

The only image i have of Welbeck is that trick he done at the corner flag and kicked it out of play. Do people think he really has potential to lead our attack?

  • Registered Users Posts: 150 ✭✭pmurphy00

with the midfield we have welbeck should imho be
an different player. too often on the wing at united.

to call him what he is he's a hard working,
    powerfull and quick player.
let's judge him in 6 months.
i know it's not a marquee centre forward but still.

SSN just said no deal has been struck yet, literally minutes ago they said they got that information.

Strange the BBC reporting something nothing finalized, unlike them.

so 32m on Chambers on Welbeck. Some inflation there.

With Sanchez and Welbeck as our CFs were going to be in a much better place, believe me.

Why do people assume we will play him central? Very likely he will be played on the wing by Arsene

I think SSN are trying to make it more Dramatic. Like they did with Ozil last year

I know, that's why I'm surprised if he has not been confirmed yet. They normally only report on done deals.

Welbeck would be a fantastic signing for you guys. Most of us in the united thread would rather he not leave, not permanently anyway.

On the wing? he'll be partnering hayden at centre halve.

I'm really hoping that there is some hiccup with the Welbeck deal. He is nowhere near good enough to play for us, and even as a stopgap he isn't good enough.

I'm furious at this on a day when we were promised so much more.

Because Sanogo is the only other option.......Sanchez won't be played there on too regular a basis I'd say

With all due respect getting the 3rd string striker from a team that finished 7th isn't something i'm too chuffed about. You can keep him.

Oh stop he will be a very good signing, is he world class no but give the lad a chance. We need a striker he's our best opition at this moment in time.
