Not using this as an excuse for one second but what in gods name was either ourselves or the ref (or both) at by both wearing dark coloured tops last night?

Don't see the relevance as we couldn't make 3 consecutive passes to our own players never mind to him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,183 ✭✭✭UnknownSpecies

Should have been ozil. Sanchez is twice the player ozil is.

Subbing a new player in his second game at half time is a bit of a risk for the players attitude in the long run.

I mention that move because it ended up salvaging something for us. But yea, at the time you'd get away with thinking it should have been Ozil.

I actually forget what it feels like to win a game against a top team. Deep down I expect a draw at best and fear a really bad mauling.

The 5-3 win against Chelsea a few years back, Dortmund and Liverpool last season are the last big wins I can remember

SS1 will be discussing our game at half-time in the CL games tonight.
    Should be interesting.

Just watching Alonso, remember we could have had him for an extra 2 million cause benitez wanted barry.

Anyway this analysis will be interesting.

Ha ha Gervinho scores 2 for Roma. One with the right and one with the left.
Did he get 2 for us while here?

    Nothing new in that analysis.
We need a big DM and a CB and have done for a few seasons.

    Forgot they changed. Sorry.

Were you not watching the games last season when the same thing happened.
Any of us who watch Arsenal could have given the same analysis.
We all see it except Wenger.

But as much as we love to piss and moan, he's the manager we're not. So either we turn off the TV and not watch or put up with it. It sucks but we can't really do much about it.

I wonder if Wenger watches SS or pays any heed to the pundits though.
He is becoming a bit of a dinosaur.

No way, It's Wenger's way or the highway. I do think the big teams love playing us cause it's so easy to read us. Wenger's formation and style of play is so simple to overcome.

Plus Wenger's weak spot is Defending, I don't think the man has a breeze about it.

And then you have to ask what is Steve Bould doing ?

Acquiescing to the way Wenger wants to play, clearly. No defensive minded player or coach would set a team up like this.

    Ultimately it's Wenger's decision.

Probably coaching the defenders according to how wenger told him to! Just wouldn't surprise me.

Doing what Wenger tells him to do. Wenger might as well have a few monkeys in tracksuits beside him cause he's the one calling the shots on everything.

I wonder are we the only ones that can't close out big games or does it apply to Man City too?

I feel for Bould if that's the case cause Wenger's weakness has always been defending. He was extremely lucky when he came to the club that he had one of the greatest defences in history. After that his buys have been 90% awful when it comes to buying defenders.

To be fair City were unlucky tonight, If we played like that and lost by the one goal we wouldn't have complained. We are the only top 4 team that couldn't win a big game if it was handed to us.

Must admit I hadn't seen much of draxler before but he looked class tonight against Chelsea.

None of the English teams have looked anything but average. Chelsea resting players for city back fired.

Gervinho running amuck for Roma, he looks an amazing player for them.

Yeah Draxler looked very good tonight. Superb dribbler. I'd say signing Alexis means we won't be in for him again any time soon though.

Huntelaar isn't the answer to our poor defense and tactics.

He might be the answer to not having a decent striker though

    Cole, Lauren, Campbell and Lauren.

    The invincibles.

Gervinho's the definition of a match of the day player, which gets multiplied by a thousand when hes in a different country and we only hear about him when he scores a goal.

We have 2 very decent strikers to be fair.

15 goals and 14 assists in 40 games for Roma. Not too shabby for 9 million.

    Top class back 3!

I know what you are saying though. Arsene built a fantastic back 5 with the invincibles.

With welbeck, Sanchez and then Walcott and Giroud to come back I think we'll be ok for strikers. Welbeck has played 2 games ffs.

Our tactical set up is the fundamental issue which has been exasperated by a lack of defensive cover, as has been highlighted to death in here.

It isnt anywhere near as good as it once was but it still is a defensively minded league so there good stats whichever way you look at it. Doesnt make any odds he was so hit and miss with us at times, one of the most frustrating players ever to wear an Arsenal jersey.

Welbeck is gonna be a flop, be lucky if he gets in double figures this season. Remy would have been a great signing compared to him and for half the price......the mind boggles

Can see the meltdown in January when Wenger buys Draxler instead of a DM :p

Justify that statement please. Ridiculous how you're writing him off so early. He's looked dangerous, getting into the positions. Just needs to put the first one in.
