Fab was one of my favourite players but Özil is goina have a great season for us. Not too bothered.

Costa looks the business. In, admittedly what little I've seen of him he never really stood out I thought but he has been good tonight

Cesc is a fine player and will most likely lead chelsea to the title. Him playing for that manager in that shirt turns my stomach.

However the manager made his decision regarding re signing him, and so be it. We can move on.

Aye, Wenger made his decision so I won't be moaning about it anymore. Just wanted to call it now so nobody can accuse me of being fickle at the end of the year.

The fact Ramsey is potentially a better player than both of them softens the blow somewhat.

Pretty much from his Fan club , I don't understand why we are so worried. We have top class talent in the midfield. Poor Wilshire is taking the blunt of the abuse.

Remember when pirlo was wilshere's age he was on loan at brescia. Wilshere is still a young player. Granted he needs games, but I've still got faith.

Confident Wilshere and Ozil will do their stuff this season. Ozil in particular is going to clean up when back imo.

We've a super offensive midfield. Wouldn't change it.

until the fat lady sings and if they/he do this agaisn't the top teams. Christ it's Burnely and everyone on here is already handing them the title.

Cesc is world class, it's not even up for debate imo, we of all people should know how good he is. I think we made the right decision not to buy him back with our current squad considering how we've strengthened.

I'm more jealous of matic to be honest

Matic and Costa compared to Arteta and Giroud is why they will be coming ahead of us. Pretty much even otherwise but the gap in quality between them two sets of players is massive.

Like Manolas, have seen him play a few times and he has impressed me every time. Reckon Wenger will play Chambers DM in a few cup games to see how he gets on.

I dont rate Wilshere. Why not replace him with a far better player?

Our front six is Arteta, Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez, Giroud, Walcott.

Wilshere will be fighting Cazorla, Ox, Podolski, Rosicky and Sanogo for a place on the bench. Why would you spend £32m to upgrade a substitute? Better spending the money on upgrading Arteta or Giroud if there are suitable players available.

    Matic over Arteta for sure

The other the jury is out on.

Unlimited funds compared to a budget is a bigger difference

agaisn't a team that can't spend any real money and most of their players haven't played in the premiership. Wait until he comes up agaisn't decent opposition. Once he comes up agaisn't top class teams he's wanting imo.

What is the crack with Girouds fitness? Why is he not up to pace like the rest of them? Was he injured after the WC?

We dont seem to be upgrading on Arteta this summer at least not with a specialist DM so could have slotted Cesc in there. Or as a #10 with Ozil out wide. The reason we rejected Cesc was because we had other areas to strenghten, im just gutted that we our starting team will consist of Arteta and Giroud.

"It was his Home club, how could he turn them down". Wenger didn't take him back cause we have Ramsey who will get better. Get over it people, support the club and our players instead of ****ting on them.

He practically went AWOL to force the move through  And when it doesn't work out he expects us to take him back :pac: Delighted we got Sanchez in instead, just what we need against the big clubs in England and away ties for the latter stages of the Champs Lge, soaking up play and hitting teams on the counter with his and Walcotts pace with Ozil teeing them up, getting excited here even thinking about it :pac:

Costa who was caught wanting at the end of the season and was totally lost at the world cup.

Matic I give but costa is hugely overrated and Giroud totally underrated by our own fans.

Spend 30+ million on cesc, then stick him in at DM

    RIGHT

If Manolas is done then the Rabiot deal would make sense I think, if Wenger is happy with his defensive options then bringing in a young DM would seem to be a long term Wenger thing to do.

It's all the shagging. I've nothing to back this view up, it's what my brain automatically reaches for.

People (his fans) ignore or call b.s on this, that he went awol. He wasn't wanted and i'm happy with that. We have top class midfield and sadly most of our fan's can't and won't see it cause they are more loyal to a guy who wanted out.

Sanchez will come good once he find he's feet and all this talk of Cesc will be put to one side.

    RIGHT

Not as a Dm, as a deep lying playmaker which is what Arteta is in fairness. Big improvement

Debuchy is playing are others from the WC yet he looks to be struggling

People saying they'd swap *insert Arsenal player* for Cesc need to cop on.

Fair enough you want Cesc, but don't be slating players that are actually willing to stay and play for our club... Unlike Cesc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,500 ✭✭✭Drexel

I'd say that will be the end of the spending for this season.
We should have got and do need a big fast brute of a no-nonsense DM though.

Huge relief that we are getting a defender in.

Im not so sure we would be finished. I can see some deadline day action if in Wenger's words 'the right player becomes available'. Everyone and their dog were linking us with khedira. There seemed to be definite interest.

    Fùcking hopefully anyway :)

Arteta was an attacking midfielder slotted into DM, you want to repeat the example? Seriously, do you miss the irony in that statement.

As for strengthening other areas, that is what Debuchy, Chambers, Sanchez and Ospina have done. You can't solve every problem in one transfer window.

We need a DM not a deep lying Midfield. We need someone to get a few crutching tackles in, not be bullied in the midfield. I don't see Cesc been that player plus we have Ramsey and Wilshire to do that deep lying playmaker role.

But Wenger wont sign a specialist DM. Rabiot isnt one, either is Khedira. Cesc would be a massive upgrade on Jack and Arteta. If we sign a DM, ill admit im wrong and be delighted to say so.

It might even be a lag from last season just catching up on him and Wenger giving him a chance to ease back in.

He played a serious amount of games last season.

As I said two weeks left, none of us know what Wenger is up too Raf. We can complain about it once that clock stops. I think it be a massive mistake if he doesn't sign one, it's been a problem for years.

Agreed, i hope he does and then that will justify not signing Fabregas. Hopefully he can see that but it seems to have gone so quiet which is worrying

Whats the news on Besiktas? Are they a team that could turn us over? Who are the players to watch out for?

If we just got in the defender I wouldn't be freaking out but some sort of DM type player would be nice. It seemed like wages were the sticking point with Kedhira so as the window closes someone will back down. Says Chelsea are favourites thought but they have Matic there already.

    Loved this from the article

'Jack Wilshere's early promise has been extinguished like one of his cigarettes'

    :)

As much as it would be nice to get Manolas and Rabiot, it would be absolute criminal for Arteta and Giroud to be in our first 11. One of them i could handle but both would be horrible.
