I'm visiting Galway for the weekend of Friday 01 August to Sunday 03 August. Can anyone tell me, will there be much craic in town that weekend? I know it's the Galway races, but will pubs in town be full? It's a long time since I was in Galway so I'm a bit out of touch.

In that case, any pubs that won't be jam packed?

No, the pubs will be so full most people end up in the streets. It's quite possibly the busiest time of year in Galway.

The Cottage or PJs on the way to Salthill. Nice.

I presume you have accomodation sorted out already because prices are borderline extortionate now.

The place will be packed regardless.

The crowd a few years ago. Inside the pubs it's even worse. Like a lot of Galwegians I stay away from the city during the races, it's just too crowded.

omg that's not fun! I am starting to worry about the traffic jams going into Galway tomor. Has anyone any experience of this? Any sneaky roads in which may alleviate it? Any advice??
