Could anyone recommend the best places to apply to for student accommodation that would be fairly close to DCU?

Gateway, Hazelwood, Shanowen. I'd say they're all fully booked by now though.

Thanks for the reply. Some of them don't open booking until the CAO offers.

Put your name in anyway, it's free to apply.

First years are put into Larkfield. If you didn't get over 500 you might not get ground floor (if you're a guy) or first floor (if you're a girl). There's still a chance, but if you do get offered it will most likely be second floor.

E140 per week?!! That's 560 a month... That's insane, we're students, not millionaires. I don't know many students that would pay 140 a week to live in a family home, where you have limited freedom, aren't sorrounded my other students, where your social life would suffer. No wonder not many people live with families, they charge way too much, literally double what any student would want to pay! 100 a week max including all bills is all I'd pay.

Yeah, sorry maybe I'm being a bit harsh, but you do know, not everybody wants their meals cooked, for example if I took your offer up, I wouldn't like meals supplied as I prefer to get my own food etc.. What's your price without meals and supplied?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6 Kathryn 119

Its ok I understand its expensive for you but frm my persective if I dont provide the meals I could end up with three students cookin different meals in the kichen wanting to use oven/hob microwave all at same time and I still have to cook for the family.it just seems a lot of hassle in the long term.if you wanted room only and to eat out I would say €100pwk.I think thats reasonable bills included.

Hi lads. I have a spare room in a house in clontarf. It's on Vernon avenue. I'd be looking to rent the room Monday to Friday but we can work out arrangements if weekend stay is needed. The house is lived in by four professionals (all male) all under 30. Price for the room would be €440 a month including bills.
If anyone is interested PM me :)

I am looking for accomodation but its difficult to find a room so if anybody is interested in teaming up pm me your gender, age and what year you are in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 66 ✭✭Jamezzyboyoo

Lads if yous havn't got accommodation at this stage you will not find cheap ones easy, single rooms are gone, twin rooms I'd say are the same! Commuting or digs (staying with a family) are really the only option now!

Here are some places where you may just find accom :)

    rent.ie
    collegecribs.ie
    google.ie
Go onto DCU campus, there is ads around campus with the SU (Student Union) stamp on them so you know they are trustworthy with available housing and people looking for roommates.

The only way to get accom is to get up off your behind and go find it. Regardless of whether you've been looking for the past month do not sit down until you find some or work out some sort of arrangement. And also do not worry, when you come in for Ori there will be hundreds in the same boat as yourself. But not all will find accom.
