Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

Fancy playing Sunday League football in London next season? After a solid first season in existence, London Hoops F.C. will be back and competing in the APFSCIL league division 2 again next season. We are starting pre-season training next Sunday 20th July at 12pm in Finsbury Park (meeting at the gates closest to the tube station and just up from the 12 Pins pub) and are looking for new players to help the club grow and challenge for honours. Matches will be played every Sunday at 2pm and we play our home games on Hackney Marshes. If you are interested in lining out with us next season email us at londonhoops @ gmail . com (you can work it out - I'm not allowed post email addresses!) and come along on Sunday. We are also planning a pre-season trip to Tallaght for the Shamrock Rovers v Sligo game at the end of August and to play a friendly against a local Tallaght team. Any new players will obviously be more than welcome to come along on this trip too. While we are connected to the London Hoops Shamrock Rovers supporters club there are only 2 players who would be classed as proper Rovers fans. We have a good mix of Irish lads (including 1 supposed Bohs fan!) from all over the country, English lads and even a couple of Italians so everybody is welcome!

    Roll on the new season!

Just want to add that I joined up last year and I'm glad I did. It's great to get a regular game of (somewhat!) competitive football and the team is made up of a great bunch of lads. I'd recommend for anyone interested in joining to at least come to the pre-season training.

Cheers Jonny, and in the process you have turned in to a London Hoops stalwart! Glad you enjoyed the season and looking forward to next season - after you get that small matter of a wedding out of the way..!

If anyone else fancies joining Jonny as a boards.ie player, just get in touch and we'll see you on Sunday.

what kind of standard are we talking about?

what kind of standard are we talking about?

Pretty decent to be honest but also quite mixed. There are some very good players and teams in the league but also a few who, ehm, try hard!

Overall though it is a very well run league and the standard is quite high. If you are familiar with the Leinster Senior league I would put it somewhere around Major 1B/1C Saturday..?
