    Bank of Ireland announces major investment for Galway and reaffirms branch network integral to distribution strategy
     
    We are delighted to announce a major investment for Galway that will deliver a new concept branch for Mainguard Street which underpins the Bank’s commitment to the city.  This exciting new development will deliver a new open-front design, innovative interior design and will feature state-of-the-art digital zones that will allow customers to interact with the full range of Bank of Ireland services.
     
    Pat Fleming, the Branch Manager, said: “This is a major innovative project that will transform our style of banking in Mainguard Street and position Galway as a leader in modern retail bank design. Our current premises has stood the test of time but the Bank has given Galway a unique opportunity for us to modernise and deliver some incredible new interactive technology and in doing so create a cutting-edge banking environment that will set new standards in retail banking for our staff and customers.
    Our national branch network is of vital strategic importance to us and we regard a branch network as an integral part of our multi-channel approach to serving our customers.   Our strategic focus on and investment in our branch network ensures that we are the provider of financial services embedded in local communities in over 250 urban and rural towns and cities throughout the Republic of Ireland, complemented by the major investments we are also making in our payment systems and online and mobile banking services - much which will be evidenced in our new Mainguard Street premises. ”
     
    In order to facilitate the redevelopment, the branch will temporarily move to a floor above the existing branch, where it will be business-as-usual delivered by the familiar staff faces.  External ATMs will continue to operate at the location and the internal ATM service (lodge / withdraw cash) will be available from the temporary first location.  Counter cash services will be relocated to the nearby branches of Eyre Square, Salthill, Mervue and NUIG.
