Heavy rain here in blackrock. Had 2 flashes of lightning earlier and have had a distant rumble of thunder

Whatever about not getting thunder in most parts where was all the rain? Another overplayed weather event here on Boards.

The thunder was loud enough here at times. Overall, during the last hour or so, it hasn't been too much to write home about, unfortunately.

    Total non event in Cork

Looks like an electrified pulse of rain coming in off the Irish Sea heading for the greater Dublin area. This might be the last chance to salvage something for the foreseeable...

Terrestrial rain? What's that, is it worse than torrential rain? :-)

Very disappointing. It had the hallmarks of being epic. Think I need to move to Arklow. Oh well, did get to see a flash and hear a couple of nice rumbles.

Hailstone now falling with the rain in Dublin city centre. Pretty loud on the top deck of the bus.

According to met eireann and raintoday, it should be bucketing down, there is nothing, we had a 5min shower and now the skies are brightening up

Massive flash and bang here just now. Aircraft departing Dublin airport are turning sharp left and heading NE to avoid the storm

Great nights sleep for me, just a few miles to the north of Cork City. I think all the action was much further west, the roads were barely wet at 6am.

As usual the city city shield was penetrated jut the once last night

Looking at the lightning radar, the Cork Snow Shield has upgraded it's defences for lightning now as well. Two distinct paths.

Did ANYTHINH happens in Cork City? I slept through if it did :-(

See my other post, we got one nice bang just after you went to bed and just maybe one more, the track shows the division of the action quite well.

There wasn’t anything really promised for Galway City

Well that was a bit of an anticlimax.
A bit of thunder and lightning in Lucan and some torrential rain but that's about it.
Funniest bit was my just-turned-2 daughter turning to me after the loudest clap of thunder and saying "HEAVY rain, Daddy".
Not bothered by it in the slightest.

A few bursts of heavy rain in Marino, with the odd flash of lighting and rumble of thunder.
