Just watching the report on 6:1.

Dont know how the government STILL say these charges will go ahead given the public outcry. Impossible task and an exercise in futility for the government to continue in this vein. Offering concessions? They people wont be fooled again Enda et Al.

The majority have already registered. Majority rules and the rest of the freeloaders will be kicked and beaten into line.

Well, not all those protesting are against the charges. You can see that just by looking through this thread. Many support the charge, but have an issue with IW. I don't see that the protests would be sufficient to turn the government, especially when dispersed around the country. The impact seems like it was a lot less

Id like to see evidence to back up your statement that the majority have already registered. Very much doubt it.

    Source / link?

How's your facebook page for outing protesters coming along btw? Any more than the one follower yet?

Didn't make it today, missed a connecting flight and am only leaving Dublin airport now.

Looks like a great turn-out, fairplay to all involved.

    It was uplifting.

Was on O'Connell bridge at one point, and crowds were marching from left and right, along the quay, towards the GPO.

And this will be their biggest mistake.
Given the recent years of austerity, the people took everything thrown at them in silence.
So given the fact that people have now taken to the streets should tell the government all they need to know about the mood of the people.

And I agree however the problem is the majority of the people marching are hiding behind that and PPS number's simply cus they don't want to pay for water and your deluding yourself believing otherwise, Ireland is a nation of people who will try to get away with whatever we can without paying for it and this is a classic example

You and your buddies here should watch six one news ... Ordinary folk marching

The numbers look nowhere as many as I was expecting - it was a big tactical mistake by SF & the socialists to split the numbers rather than going for one big march. This is probably the high point, it's hard to see where the protestors/freeloaders go after this.

Hopefully start protesting against less fair taxes like the RTE tax.

    Fun fact.

The average household will pay just €18 per year more to Irish water compared to RTE!

You might want to tell yer wan from I.W.
She said it was an even split as to have registered and who haven't.

And I've some news for you.
There won't be any kickings or beatings outside of your Facebook mock life.
Jeez, talk about scratching the surface before the fascist roots show...

How many of those who marched today are house owning bill payers?

I'm assuming we both have the same information on that. Which is sweet fúck all. As far as either of us know each household could have sent one representative. But I won't be making that claim. Same way as I won't be comparing the number of protestors vs the population of Ireland. Which is what my point was. And you appeared to miss.

The numbers are going up every day. It will be a solid majority by 2015.

For all their talk about capturing the mood of a nation it's clear that these water protestors are a substantial minority.

So, its not a majority and you just made that up. Grand. Safe to say you are making the rest up also. Where do stand now on your beatings threat?

I saw the march on the quays today.

First of all, the number were small relative to what was expected (3,000 to 5,000 I'd say).

Second of all, it was not what you'd call a disparate group. Everybody looked lower working class. Nobody looked like they had a job. There were a lot of people waving Dublin GAA flags. I saw no professional or middle class people at all. But then they work Monday to Friday to pay for those who were marching to live their lives...

It is a majority. It was 50 even last week and now it's not. The numbers are not going to go backwards either.

Organisers right2water say 150,000 citizens were out protesting against water charges today

A horrible, wet day yet 150k and counting (totals not all in) turned out.People from all walks of life & all ages.

I got wet today in Enniscorthy but didn't care, numbers were double those that turned out last week.
I bet those who were feeling smug about this falling flat due to the weather are once more bitterly disappointed.

Even the motorists who were held up beeped & shouted support (apart from the pr1ck in the NI reg camper van who gave protesters the fingers & shouted obscenities).

I'd say that's more a sign of your own ignorance than the employment situation of 3,000+ people

How many people turned up to the Dublin protest? 100k? It was about 70k the last time, I assume it's grown.

Where are you people constantly getting these stupidly high Dublin figures from? Estimates barely put it at 10,000 on O'Connell street today. Other than Swords most other Dublin protests were coming in at less than a thousand? Just where oh where is 100,000 people in Dublin coming from. 100K+ nationwide is actually accurate.

    I'm a professional person.
My mates that were with me are extremely well paid with very enviable jobs.
We were not part of any political or social group.
We are simply hard working, home owners, with families, working hard jobs, just f*cking Fed up of yet another tax.

So please keep your large generalisations to yourself.
