A 100% tax credit / Welfare allowance for 2 years...... Or some other fudge like that.

All the main parties want IW to stay, its just a matter of placating the mob.

The people I was with on Sat will not be fobbed-off easily I can assure you.
Many already planning their trip to Dublin for the BIG ONE in December.
    The sleeping monster has awakened.
    Be very afraid FG.

Yeah again you show you think every one is a mob and on social welfare.
That is over generalisation. Many people marching have good jobs and are productive members of society. You seem to have a grudge against a group of people. There are not that many jobs in this country people have to go abroad for work and people lost jobs due to the recession but hay go ahead and have a grudge and paint all with the same brush.

The final straw that broke FG back.In polls FF and FG and Labour are dropping down.Independents and Shin Fein are going up.If we had a election in the morning FF and FG would be sunk. But FG will have their pensions. They wont mind. When the American president gets less than our own it says everything.

    You have some cheek.

    How?

There already will be a €100 tax credit / Welfare allowance kicking in in January for IW.
(Which I'm sure hasn't escaped you).

Not sure why the hysterical reaction at the mere thought of the government caving in & increasing that same allowance...

Its entirely plausable that they could do it.

    5. Overhaul the way our political system works to stamp out cronyism and low standards.

Wow, epic fail by Fine Gael above...aided and abetted by a useless Labour who have protected the wasteful unions and public sector so well.

Not another red cent was another one...

Many FG/Labour ministers have feathered their nest and look forward to a handy retirement just like Bertie, Cowen, Coughlan etc

Also speaking on the water charges issue on Newstalk Breakfast, Sinn Féin’s Mary Lou McDonald further explained her decision announced yesterday that she will not be paying her Irish Water bill:
My concern at this point is for the vast numbers of people who can’t pay, it’s not a case of them saying they won’t pay or won’t pay. They simple don’t have the resources to pay an existing bill.
“As an act of solidarity to people who can’t pay I won’t be paying”,” she said.
“As angry as people are as regards these charges, what I’ve picked up in the past few weeks from people in my own community who I represent, is that people are afraid as well, and that’s an awful state of affairs.”
Vote for the Shinners it is then and Independents.Let us teach FG the lesson FF were taught.FG and FF are 2 peas in the same pod.No point voting for the same people again and again and expecting different results.

Also when these water meters break down in say 5 years do we the public have to pay for new ones or do we et another ''free'' meter reading device. We paid 600 million taxes to Irish water for these things to be put in so they were not even free. Are we always going to have to replace these boxes in future ourselves.Hmm

    A grand coalition!

    Stability
    Prosperity.
    And a privatised IW.

    From her facebook page

" Not only did she suggest that the protesters should collect the rain water to drink but she also stated that she couldn't "cope" if she had to listen to a thousand of her constituents! What an enormous insult to the 1108 people who elected her! She has clearly forgotten who she works for!!!"

Facebook campaign now to 'unvote' her. Calling for her resignation.

Someone had to pay for the meters to be made and they don't just appear in the ground, we need to pay to buy them so of course free didn't mean at no cost to the government it just meant no extra cost to the person having it installed, if you honestly thought free meant completely free at no cost to anyone there's something wrong with you. And yeah I know D'OB supplied the whatever tinfoil hat conspiracy theory you wanna level next to try derail answering and addressing point's made at you thats not what this is about so don't try to switch the subject to that, you are being purposefully ignorant by claiming free meter's meant free meters to the country.

Also a SF independent government would be like trying to herd a group of cat's on heat

The project still has to go ahead in full.

    And will.

A temporary Irish solution to calm the loud minority.

Depending on who you listen too there was anywhere between 150 to 200 thousand people out on the streets and had it not been such a god awful day weather wise there would have been a hell of a lot more. the disconnect from the ordinary people by the powers that be is just astounding. it's the largest mobilisation of people seen since the foundation of the state in 1922. yet according apparently it's a loud minority to some. people from all backgrounds and all walks of life are standing up and have basically had enough. it isn't just about water charges and if the powers that be and their supporters can't or refuse to grasp that then they deserve everything that's coming their way. the people have had enough. the government needs to be very careful here how they proceed. dismissing this mobilisation of the people as just some flash in the pan or loud minority is delusional whether you agree with it or not.

Trying to find relevant article now

Ahh Vin still waiting for your source for earlier.Did you find it yet.

The question I asked is what charge will we be paying in future to replace this water meters.600 million to put these things in could have gone on something else.A waste of money.Especially when IW will be defeated like the last time they tried to inflict this on the people.

Voting for FF or FG again and again and getting the same bad results and lies and jobs for the boys is like Insanity.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

    Albert Einstein.

The majority of the country is against these charges so why do they call them a vocal minority..People from all walks of life are in attendance at the marches yet some people want to label every body nike wearing dole using chav wasters who do not want to pay their fair share.

Even Enda Kenny said about the house tax that it would be immoral to charge people this then he did it.He lies. And can go back to teaching after the next election as he is getting the sack by the Majority.

It will have to be if people do not pay.And the next election we will vote for the party that over turns it.The people will win in the end.

And that's exactly why the water charges will go ahead. The protests are one of general discontent....not just water. In fact, many protesting do not disagree with the concept of charging for water. But there is no specific message from the protests other than 'we're sick of all this'

There may well be changes to IW and the charge structure. And fair play for the public display of anger making this happen. But the water charge is coming for sure.

Your assurances are not enough I want a source to your claim.Stop the cronyism of employing Denis O Brien. Let us not forget that a referendum to prevent Irish Water being sold does not stop them entering into a partnership with other private companies.like Gmc / Sierra Limited and its similarly named parent company.A referendum does nothing. You trust FG too much.Love is blind.

Thus far that's only the Joe Higgins party & PBP who are calling for that.

Can't see them returning 80 seats between them.

It's the same reason why the greens want legislation to prevent privatisation, and why there is now a clamour for a referendum.

The defenders of the undefendable, are scattering in all directions.

The corruption and cronyism must end, before we can truly prosper.

no , they already have provisions in place to be able to draw money from the government if they run a loss , IW will be funded one way or another.

Shinners according to polls are in front if there was a election in the morning.
no , they already have provisions in place to be able to draw money from the government if they run a loss , IW will be funded one way or another.
How long will those provisions that come from our tax that was paid to them already last.Eventually a company not running a profit has to fold.We vote out FG and let in the people who listen to the majority who do not want this tax.We defeated this tax before water charges were defeated before in our history.
