    Hi

i went for a run around the half marathon route on saturday , nice route, nothing too hilly on it.., last mile or so flat..so if you have anything left in the tank, you will have a nice finish. , Good route. hopefully the weather will be nice.

So here, what kind of times are people going for here? I'm really thinking I could be last

    I'd be hoping between 1 hour 40 and 1 hour 45.

You can pick them up the morning of the race from 08:30 onwards.

I hope this works, here is the race brief where all questions can be asked

Works fine for downloading but not clear how to edit.

Suggest it might be better to take qns here or on Facebook perhaps?

Sorry that should have said "answer" questions, we won't have much time this week to answer questions outside the race breif. We are in work all week and busy each evening putting everything in place.

Yep gonna stick with the 1.45 pacer for first 10k and see how I'm set. Ran just over 1.42 for Galway Bay Half Marathon but I'd say I hit a good day there!!

I was the same back in September when I did my first half, totally worked up and sick at the thoughts of it. I had only been running a short few months and didn't think I was ready at all. If you can, just go out and enjoy it, I was so worked up that I managed to drain myself of energy and once my injuries started acting up I was a gonner. I'm probably less ready for this one tbh, but there you go, I'm not worked up any more!

You're not there to win (maybe you are, but unlikely!), you're only there for yourself and for the great charities that are being supported.

All you have to do is get from one point to the next, nothing else matters really! It'll be fun :)

Great advice...thanks. It's something like that I need to calm me down I think :-)

Looking forward to it and I hope the nerves will settle after a few Km. Then it's time to start enjoying !!

    Best of luck !

Ah they will definitely, once you get started you'll be grand. Try to calm down well before that though :P

If someone felt like dropping down the distance from the half to 10K, would that be allowed..........?

Ok thanks. Had a tiny niggle and it's cleared up, but wanted to check just in case.

It's looking like a cold day in store

Good idea: long run last Saturday :)
Bad idea: getting competitive at the local Parkrun smack in the middle said long-run.
Result: pulled muscle and more than likely a missed "Off The Laois" event :(

Great event, great route, great craic and yes...great soup :)

Really enjoyed that today, I did the 10K and got a whole 12 seconds off my previous best time so may have celebrated a bit OTT going over the line.
Looking forward to the next event held down in my home county, it was my first time running in Laois and very glad to do the best I could there and contribute to some fine charities.

Well done to everyone involved in organising today. It was a brilliantly organised race. The marshalls were deadly, and I got offered Jaffa Cakes by a very lovely lady at around the 10 mile mark. Thanks to everyone who volunteered.

Unfortunately it didn't go as planned and I was in increasing pain for the last 4/5 miles, thought I'd be able to push through it but I had to walk some of the last 3km and barely limped over the finish in the end. Ah well. The strong start still knocked a couple of minutes off my Dublin Half Marathon time so not the worst day I guess :)

Well done everyone who took part today.

Myself and three sisters had a wonderful run today.

Thank you to the organisers, the stewards, the caterers and everyone else involved.

Especially the guy who gee'd me up with his "C'mon - only 50 yards to go !" at the roundabout.

And whoever chased away the kids with the rope.

No, I wouldn't be worried. Just a couple of brats imitating something they saw on YouTube.

I don't think they lasted long at it ;)
