Hey guys just was wondering would anybody have any ideas how you would go about quietening the version 2 gearbox in the ASG m14 ( http://www.mainirishairsoft.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=464 ). I've had the gun 2 years still shooting flawlessly at 318 and 321 (last chrono). I'm trying to use her as a sniper shes extremely accurate and the range is perfect, its just her gearbox can give away your position with just one click due to it being just a tiny bit too noisy. I was wondering would anyone have any ideas how I would make the gearbox more quiet. Also would any one have any suggestions for possible upgrades ? Is a tight bore barrel a good option ? any suggestions for upgrades , bare in mind she has very good range and her power is from 300-321. Any suggestions welcome. At the moment she looks like this except has no bi-pod unlike the photo. MAYBE a bi-pod ? ;)

where did you buy it? most shops downgrade these by the drilling method. if this is the case then a lower rated spring and a new cylinder would help. also you could have the gearbox re-shimmed and this will help along with a high torque motor would help quieten things down and finally a gemtech suppressor to top it off.
to get better range out of it you can flat hop the gun with some minor modifications and range will be mental.

Purchased it online from MIA about 2 years ago. So put like an m80 spring in her instead ?

If its a mia gun its likely drilled, with a new cylinder and a guarder m90 spring you should be in the ballpark of 315 fps

Thanks man eh one question would you be able to recommend a site to get the gemtech suppressor ? No need for a new barrel is there ?

To make your m14 quieter i reccomend a re shim, re grease, change the cylinder and spring, possibly the piston head and spring guide to bearing ones, correct the aoe using 70d sorbo which will also quieten the gun dramastically, also i would replace the piston with an shs blue full metal teeth version, this will help with doing the aoe plus give your gearbox abit more durability, i had an m14 and it was whisper quiet after doing these few little bits, also a good supressor with good high density foam is good, hope this helps:) also the m14 has a v7 gearbox:P

    Piston head-10
    Sorbo-10
    Cylinder-10
All that plus the cost of labour too unless your doing it yourself

    Would this silencer: http://www.hobbyairsoft.ie/index.php?route=product/product&path=37_72&product_id=719

    or this one:http://www.hobbyairsoft.ie/index.php?route=product/product&path=37_72&product_id=710

be any better than the one you suggested in regards of silencing it ? OR is it just the brand which makes it more expensive ?

Also could anyone recommend a place to get these bits and bobs done ?
