And this is what 24/7 news coverage does - it leads journalists to search for more and more material to fill that time.

Even before the internet became relevant to anyone, journalists like that existed.

If they boycott gas from Russia does that mean our famous Shell facility will be in big demand?

Not if the slack jawed yokels from Rossport get their way

If Russia had any direct or indirect role in this plane being shot down, FIFA should seriously consider moving the 2018 World Cup venue.

If they are willing to let the World Cup be held in a city that is too warm to play in, does not allow drink, homosexuality or equal rights for women and is building their stadiums with slave labour, what makes you think they'll care about what Russia does?

That's nothing.. they actually interviewed some of the classmates of the murdered children just after the incident had occurred, on tv
Was everybody crying, scared, wanting their parents to come get them?" a CNN reporter asked a young girl in a parking lot

If supplying the whole of Europe it would probably run out of gas in a couple of days.

    We're all in this psy-op together.🤨

I just read about the lady who lost her brother on flight MH370, her stepdaughter was on flight MH17. That's dark.

    and now the cover-up begins..

    http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/18/malaysia-airlines-crash-flight-recorder-found-as-anger-at-russia-mounts-live-updates

"Separatist groups in eastern Ukraine are hastily covering up all links to the Buk missile battery," Ewen MacAskill (@ewenmacaskill) and Spencer Ackerman (@attackerman) report.

There is confusion over the black boxes and other devices apparently salvaged from the downed plane. A rebel military commander initially said he was considering what to do with them, while another rebel leader, Aleksandr Borodai, contradicting his colleague, said the rebels had no black boxes or any other devices.

The Ukrainian interior ministry added to fears of a cover-up when it released video purportedly taken by police showing a truck carrying a a Buk missile launcher with one of its four missiles apparently missing, rolling towards the Russian border at dawn on Friday. The video could not be indepenedently verified.

"Some [rebels] looked slightly intoxicated," Buzzfeed's Moscow correspondent Max Seddon tweets from the OSCE press conference on its attempt to access the crash site today.

OSCE on #MH17 crash site: bodies lying everywhere decomposed, some burnt, others mangled together. Nobody removing them for cold storage.
    — max seddon (@maxseddon) July 18, 2014

OSCE have no idea who is controlling #MH17 crash site. Appears to be several small rebel groups with no leader. Fate of black boxes unknown.
    — max seddon (@maxseddon) July 18, 2014

OSCE unable to access all but a small area of #MH17 crash site due to aggressive armed rebel guards. "Some looked slightly intoxicated."

The poor families. Initially the one vague blessing was that there was some hope that bodies could be recovered. The longer this mess continues, even that hope is diminishing.

Channel 4 were showing brief footage of the mobile BUK system, minus 2 of its 4 missiles trundling down a road, apparently towards the border.

There were reports on Channel4 news that many of the bodies are still laying where they fell, some of them uncovered. The least that the people in the area could do is to bring the bodies to a hospital or some other facility where a morgue could be set up to treat the dead with some respect.

The thing that points most squarely at the russian separatists to me is the response of the Russians. Russian satellites must been watching that area 24/7....it is their war after all. So they'd be able to see what happened.

If their satellite data showed the launch from anywhere other than russian or russian separatist controlled territory, or indeed no evidence of a launch at all, implying a bomb, they would have let the whole world know, rather than just let every country line up against them.

The Americans equally likely know where the missile originated. But they can't just officially put that out there without considering their response....talking to other leaders etc. It could be very dangerous if not handled right.

Putin would have laid it out there straight away if it wasn't the guys that he is supplying.

The guys I saw on one report were all holding handkerchiefs over their noses. They need to get the bodies out of there

I'm not surprised - temperatures around there would be in the mid-high 20s. Not pleasant at all.

Is anyone really surprised here? This is the Russians after all.

Ever heard the phrase "Sneaky Russian". It's not in existence for nothing.

Maybe this is a sweeping generalisation but having worked with some in the past they are for the most part sneaky bastards and quite weird.

Good old Putin Tv :D (russia today)

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/mh17-russia-today-presenter-sara-firth-quits-over-malaysia-airlines-crash-coverage-9615489.html
A presenter for the Kremlin-backed news channel Russia Today (RT) has resigned from her job in protest over the broadcaster’s coverage of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crash in Ukraine.

Sara Firth quit the post she has held at the Moscow based station for five years over what she described as their “total disrespect to the facts”, claiming on Twitter that the RT style guide rule one is: "It is ALWAYS *Ukraine's fault (*add name as applicable)”.

Firth, who was a London-based correspondent, told the Press Gazette: “It’s scary that it’s genuine RT guidance on how to do a story, and you have to believe it to succeed there. You stop believing that what they say is the way it is and you stop being useful to them.”

She described its coverage of the crash, which killed all 298 people on board, as "the straw that broke the camels back".

Her exit comes after RT anchor Liz Wahl resigned live on air in response to the station’s “whitewashed” coverage of events of the Ukraine crisis in March. The network swiftly denounced her actions as “nothing more than a self-promotional stunt”.

Explaining her decision to leave, she said: “Yesterday when the story broke you get the kick in your stomach when you’re going to get the facts and it’s this huge story.”

    No, never.

Calling 140 odd million people spread over 17million km2 sneaky and weird is fairly sweeping alright.

One of the first videos very distastefully showed a stack of about 30 or 40 passports, and someone opening them up and showing them to the camera; the faces of people dead before their families even knew they were missing, uploaded to the web.

My first thought upon seeing that was that there's no way those passports are going home. Someone is rubbing their hands at the thought of selling them for $500 a pop on the black market.

It's just a complete cluster****. There's a chance that someone could have survived the crash, but given that those first on the scene seemed more occupied with looting, the odds of them reaching a hospital in time would be slim to none. First order of business should be scouring the wreckage for survivors, then arranging for the bodies to be respectfully recovered and treated - not walking around with video cameras searching for loot FFS.

    He said:

"Now, here is what we know so far. Evidence indicates that the plane was shot down by a surface-to-air missile that was launched from an area that is controlled by Russian-backed separatists inside of Ukraine.

We also know that this is not the first time a plane has been shot down in eastern Ukraine. Over the last several weeks Russian- backed separatists have shot down a Ukrainian transport plane and a Ukrainian helicopter, and they claimed responsibility for shooting down a Ukrainian fighter jet.

Moreover, we know that these separatists have received a steady flow of support from Russia.

This includes arms and training. It includes heavy weapons. And it includes anti-aircraft weapons."

Apparently the missiles could not be fired without some sort of specialists . People are speculating that a Russian specialist group helped guide the missile or helped it fire .
I'm sure the truth will be well covered up anyways .
