Do you guys watch many live concert DVDs? What are your favourites?

I've got a small collection of DVDs, some Versailles, D, Deluhi, Malice Mizer, etc. I love the Versailles ones, they're an absolutely unbelievable band live, and I never got the chance to see them, so the DVDs are the closest I'm ever gonna get.

Also got Rush's R30 on Bluray, which is pretty awesome

What about you guys? Do you enjoy watching concerts on DVD, or do you have to be there to appreciate it?

Have a decent collection of concert DVDs at this point.

Favourite has to be ACDC live in Donnington. Great gig and sounds great through 5.1 speakers. Their River Plate bluray is decent enough but doesn't feel as raw as the Donnington gig.

Other good live DVDs I have include Pearl Jam live in Cornice, Eddie Vedder Water on the Road, Chickenfoot Get Your Buzz On, Red Hot Chili Peppers in Slane, U2 in Slane

Ones to avoid are the 2 Guns n Roses Use Your Illusion DVDs. They're probably my favourite band but the sound quality of the DVDs make them unwatchable. I have recently bought the GNR Vegas bluray but haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

I have Metallica:Live in San Diego '92. Awesome performance. The difference in James Hetfield between now and back then is like night and day. He's lost the fire he had back then, although it's to be expected.

Guns N Roses: Live in Tokyo '92 . Everybody says they were the greatest band in the world at the time but this performance is lolbad. Slash sounds out of tune, Axl sounds terrible, Duff is out of his tree.

Motley Crue: Carnival of Sins. All style and no substance. Songs have aged badly as has Vince Neil lol. Out of breath halfway through a single line more than once. Really lets the other 3 down. All the pyro, dancers and boob shots can't save it.

Have a couple of paradise lost dvds which are class plus type o negative which would get a frequent spin.
Have the Motley crue dvd as above ^ played it once. L:ooks great sounds terrible.
Other live include korn , machine head, soulfly, metallica which all get a spin through the winter months.

Rush : Mountain Views - this one is a pro shot DVD of the "long lost" show from the Presto tour on June 27 in Mountain View, California. 2 hours : The video is the in house feed which includes all the videos and animation used on the screen behind the group during the show. The shots of the group are fantastic with lots of close ups and various camera angles from above Neil during the drum solo, behind the audience looking towards the stage and at stage level looking up at Alex. There are also several parts where there is no video but these seem to be part of the feed rather than any problem from the tape copy. The audio is off the soundboard and is of very listenable quality but unfortunately in mono.
