Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Maybe it'll be a never-ending break. Similar to what they have on TV3 during Tonight With Vincent Browne.

First time I went to Edinburgh, I stayed in a B&B off the Leith Walk about 20 years ago. There was a gang of us up there for a week to watch Ireland hammer Scotland in the 5 nations as it was then.

    Nice gaff it was.

But everytime I met the landlady I told her I reckon Edinburgh Castle was gonna fall over the side of that cliff it's on any day now and slagged her off about the state of Scottish Rugby.

She wasn't too impressed - "That Castle - It's been there for 800 years and nay sign of it ta fall doon yit"

On my third morning there I noticed I was getting one less sausage and two less rashers for breakfast than the rest of the gang I was with.

So I kept my trap shut after that and didn't wind her up again. :o

It is a tiny place that studio Miriam has for this years shows.

And that's it.......Talk about short and sweet for me. I was only here for 15 minutes and it's now over.

I hate Gay Byrne's habit of asking why people died, rather than 'how' or 'from what'.

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,749 ✭✭✭✭grey_so_what

I would have said it was not so much a case of why did he die but how?....

Imagine a toe nail to be removed and he passed away....what a tragedy for the family...

Gay has a very strange habit of asking people "Why" somebody died, instead of "How".

Now that I think of it, didn't the lady on the LLS that Gay rang up when she had won a prize and he asked her "why did she die" when she told him her daughter had died in an accident that day....I remember thinking it was the oddest way to say it...

That time he rang the woman whose daughter had died the day before, I remember she was quite bemused when he asked her "why did she die?"

    Edit: Snap ^

He did, and I remember her being taken aback by the question. I knew that lady, and I knew her late daughter.

Everyone always said he handled that very well Harry, I have to say I didn't think so......

What a sad day for the family, what would have been great fun and celebrations instead a day of sadness....
