Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Borini starts in what will most likely be his farewell game.

    Lambert and Can also start.

What minute will Borini's injury come in then? I'll go for 57th.

I'd wager that he'll be off at half time.

    Ibe's finishing is atrocious

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,399 ✭✭✭✭ThunbergsAreGo

Yeah, he really cannot finish at all! Remember thinking the same about Sterling at this level though!

Maybe Borini playing means the deal isnt as close to completion as people think

Cracking effort from Garner and save from Jones,

    Tap in after that.

This sums it up well I think:

    http://rokerreport.sbnation.com/2014/7/19/5918153/sunderland-transfers-fabio-borini-liverpool-rodgers-confirms
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the Merseyside club have agreed a fee with Sunderland for Fabio Borini. However, no deal is imminent as personal terms are yet to be discussed.

Reports emerged last night from some pretty solid sources that a £12m offer with add-ons for the Italian was accepted, and they seem to have been bang on the money. Rodgers told BT Sport:

He spent a really successful period with Sunderland last year, and it's obviously a fantastic club.

They've offered to buy Fabio and that's where it's at. There is an agreement between the two clubs, but nothing is agreed with the player as of yet. So at the moment he's still very much a Liverpool player, but when that changes I'm sure you'll be among the first to know.
Rodgers was speaking before Liverpool's preseason game at Preston, which Borini started. That had caused a little confusion and concern amongst Sunderland fans that perhaps the reports were a little premature.

However, it appears that they are just continuing his preparation for the new season in case the deal falls through, and with Borini yet to discuss terms that is probably a wise precaution for all parties. You'd hope, though, that Sunderland wouldn't have let it get this far without assurances from the player that he wanted to return, so fingers crossed. Of course, this is Sunderland, so you can never take anything for granted.

Some of Suso's touches have been sublime. Unfortunately, for each good one, he's had a horrific one.

Great goal, there is a player in Ibe, he just seems so rough around the edges. Might be better off staying and getting worked on by us than another year on loan

Said the same with Sterling. Ibe is still growing into a man's body, until he fills out, of course he's going to be scuffing shots and getting his feet mixed up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,399 ✭✭✭✭ThunbergsAreGo

    2/2 for Peterson!

Poor old Adorjan, hauled off after 10 minutes.

Jones is a tank! Really filled out over the Summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,797 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Wow, lovely vision from Ibe there, nearly pulled it off!

Think it's safe to say, loaning out Ibe would be an incredibly dumb move. He's ready.

Ibe MOTM without question, if not for him we certainly wouldn't have won. It was really our kids who changed the game in the second half, thought they all did well.
