The standard is really high, we are in for a great series!....

Next week looks great, I love savoury treats!

The extra slice looks interesting on Friday!

No surprises there! Nancy star baker and Claire eliminated... could have called it after the first challenge!

Can't believe it's over already, that was a ridiculously quick hour!!!

I still need cake though!! :D

i always find gbbo goes so fast! its a sign of good tv

Norman and Nancy for the final !
Fantastic start to the show, love the way Mary and Paul engage with the contestants during judging. Their criticism is so constructive and FAR removed from Biddy nodding up at Paul in the GIBO

You drizzle the lemon yourself over the top......It looks like you'd put it somewhere very uncomfortable indeed....if you get my drift!!....

    Please don't mention turkey basters:o

    A new show-great-love Jo Brand.

Mr. Cofy has decided I will be baking a cake tomorrow, now all I have to do is decide what to bake!! That was absolutely brilliant the standard is so high already.

Pretty happy that Claire is gone. She annoyed me from the beginning.

Great start to the show. :) Mel and Sue are just brilliant and I don't dislike anyone yet. (Apart from Claire. Claire made me feel punchily.)

I made a chocolate Swiss roll this afternoon in preparation! It was tasty and it's important to have snacks while watching! Think the right one went home but I really don't like Jordan already for some reason.

Great first ep, hugely talented group this year.

    So glad it's back.

I prefer Anna Nolan in the Great Irish Bake-Off.

I agree - Mel and Sue annoy me.

I love Mel & Sue! I think they were a great choice to host the show in the beginning!

    I missed the first episode.
Anyone know if and when it's repeated?

Saturday at 11.30am, possibly on BBC2 not BBC1?
Edit: just checked, it is on BBC1, I got mixed up with Jo Brand's 'Extra Slice' thingy on 2 tomorrow night!

I might just watch it all over again. :D Saturday morning cup of coffee, a slice of cake and GBBO sounds good.

    Thanks a lot!
    Love the GBBO :)

Great start, some really talented bakers. Had a feeling Claire was gone when she disagreed with the judges about the cream!
Norman and Nancy the ones to watch.
Off to catch up on the extra slice programme...

Really liking an extra slice too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,004 ✭✭✭Butterfly25

I like the extra slice but I think it would be better straight after the main show instead of having to wait!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,251 ✭✭✭Pang

Just after watching the first episode. I was very impressed with the presentation of the swiss rolls. I actually feel inspired to make one but the rolling always scares me

Like Martha and Norman so far. I always love the older male contestants. Brendan was my favourite a few years back. He was unlucky not to win.

Not so sure about Iain and Jordan. Iain's beard needs a good trim and Jordan's hair needs to be pulled right back. I'm a stickler for good hygiene in the kitchen and the hair and beard creeped me out a bit.

Just caught up on An Extra Slice. I really enjoyed it. Claire came across so much better on it than she did on the actual Bake Off.

I thought the same! I felt she was quite 'dark' on the Bake Off, but she seemed so good natured on the Extra Slice show - I'm looking forward to the rest of the series of both shows :)

I slept late this morning (really awful night before) so I missed it AGAIN.
I don't suppose there's any way of watching it online for free, is there? :(
