Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not poor from referee at all. You have 90 seconds from when the try is scored to take a conversion and a minute for penalty to take the kick. Good for the referee to tell the kicker. Who you rather referee said nothing and then blew up to say the time was up and kick couldn't be taking?

I think the point is this.....we watch scrums crumble, reset, crumble again, reset again every week.....10/15 minutes wasted every games with crap at scrumtime so who give a damn if the tee is 30 seconds late coming on.....apply a bit of common sense, get the tee on, warn the team to be quicker next time or you won't be so kind but don't unnecessarily pressurise a kicker for no reason whatsoever!!

Yeah he was cleared out, he didn't go off his feet.

He didn't go off his feet though, he stayed on his feet and got dumped after. Poor decision from the red which leads straight to a French try.

Some defensive issues for Ireland but offensively they've been a joy to watch.

    Great game

Actually I wasn't talking about the penalty.

In the last two conversions during Byrnes routine he's said hurry it up 10.

Byrnes routine would be timed, he knows how much time he has. No need to be in his ear as he's started his run up.

Big tackles going in ref is a France fan ha

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Ref is giving us nothing. Was a clear forward pass ahead of that high tackle.

I'm about 5 minutes behind so when I saw these posts I paused it at the penalty and re-watched it a few times.

The ref couldn't have gotten it much more wrong. He was on his feet, then he got cleared out and wasn't interfering with the ball in any way.....it was there for the 9. Plus, their 12 who cleared him out came in directly from the side of the ruck. Should have been an Irish penalty but certainly no reason to give a French penalty, as I say, the ball was 100% there for the 9 with Maloney nowhere near it.

    Harsh.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

How can you call that a high tackle either? This guy is pissing me off. You can't challenge in the line-out, you can't challenge on the deck and now you can't tackle someone who is ducking into it.

We need to start sitting a little deeper and kicking for territory now.

Can we beat the french and the ref I hope so

Definitely was but he's let us off with a few.

The high tackle was another poor call though.

His general demeanour is pretty unpleasant IMO.

I don't know if the lads have said something to him but he doesn't seem happy with Ireland.

Yes the toughest ref i ever heard of. Counting the guy down to take a penalty. And he'll print be around for years.

    Arnold is massive.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

France have gotten all of the breaks from the ref in the last 15. It's so frustrating.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,883 ✭✭✭shuffol

Missed a forward pass and then the French player kicked the ball into one of his own players who was in front of him.

    Yes.
Referee was right though. Kicker should know how much time he has left. If he's taking to long he should know he still has opportunity to kick.

Its part of the laws. What else should be disregarded. Nothing wrong with saying it. Issue about scrums is irrevelant.

His routine will be timed but how is referee to know that? Referee is correct to inform kicker that there time to kick may be up.

Would you prefer referee to not warn the kicker and award a scrum to the opposition for not taking the kick within the allocated
