Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Perhaps Carbery has more kicking done this season w/club etc...
    Carberry very impressive so far

Loughman off, big blow, pick of the forwards for me.

Great crosskick by Carberry and catch, however ball knocked on while running towards try line

Is the picture jumping for anyone else?

Set-piece really letting Ireland down so far. Lost all 3 line-outs and a penalised at first scrum.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,699 ✭✭✭The Pheasant2

Set piece a mess. A few sloppy mistakes like that knock on off the cross fielder and that one off O'Connor's turnover could cost us in the end.

The backs are lovely to watch but you can't help but think the pack isn't good enough

It's all BOD's fault. Everyone wants to be a back these days and no one wants to be a forward.

    That scrum is not pretty

This is poor by the standard of recent years though, it's unfortunate really with the backs we have

Argies killing us at scrum time
And we're killing ourselves at lineout time

Munster finished last in the under 20s interpros. Academy system isn't as strong as others. Clubs are not as strong as those in Dublin. Just look at AIL 1A as proof of that

How do you explain the amount of Ulster and Connacht representatives then?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,442 ✭✭✭its_phil

Awful decision on kick there from Dardis.

Had no options on his inside. It was either kick or get tackled into touch.

Carberry looks the real deal. A sort of Ian Madigan to Ross Byrne's Johnny Sexton...

Well for a start Ulster won the U20 Inter Pros this season so they are bound to have reasonable representation in the squad.

He's making the point that Lost Sheep excuse is a poor one when applied to Ulster and Connacht

knockedout player, blow it up ref.

Another stupid kick from Dardis. McCarthy on his inside. I really rate this lad but he needs to start looking around and using his head.

    Accidental offside.

Held out well, but looks like this kick will see Argie win.

Didn't look offside to me on that penalty.

Why? We're not all able to watch it, what's happening?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,257 ✭✭✭Hagz

Argh, Stockdale took it quickly when it went out on the full.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,257 ✭✭✭Hagz

Talk about a difficult kick. And Carberry's off!!

Well at that point it was 6mins left they had a 5 metre scrum on our line and had been destroying us in the scrum. But we held out.

OOOh we have a penalty now - if we get it we win.

Carberry had a smashing game bar a couple of costly errors.

  • Registered Users Posts: 31 RuggaBugga

Love how the lad just jogged away after the kick as though it was just business as usual

Thought he had a good game but wouldn't be the standout. Ringrose for me doing all the right things at the right time. Just knows when to pass, kick and hold. Very impressive at his age. I see no reason for Henshaw to join Leinster over Connacht and Munster with Ringrose there. I honestly think he will be better than Henshaw, from a Connacht supporter.

What is that 19-0 to Eng vs Japan 9mins gone..

They were also much better than Munster. Munster finished last in interpros. Ulster won the interpro title.

Ireland did quite well apart from set piece which needs huge improvement. Discipline needs to improve as well but good start

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,537 ✭✭✭typhoony

if we'd taken our chances early on and not messed up so many lineouts then it would have been a more comfortable win, Carbery did ok but very feable attempt at a tackle that let them in for a try, Ringrose was everywhere thought he had a great game, going to be a serious player when he bulks up in the next 2 years. Stockdale does'nt look like a winger, losing Gaffney was a blow lets hope his ankle injury is not serious.

i see new zealand hammered Scotland

Our backs deserves a better set piece to play off
Conan O'Donnell did very well when he came on I thought (he had a great 6N of the bench)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,248 ✭✭✭kingofthekong

The thing that worries me is that Ireland are still failing to in ish off they're opportunities like they did against England and Wales , as soon as the try line is in sight the Ireland teams hands go to absolute ****e , a bit of composure and that could of been a comfortable win. I'd also replace heffersnn with O'donnell , O'donnell has been consistently better than him all season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,817 ✭✭✭✭bilston

Watched it last night on fast forward. I was impressed by Carberry at 10 given he was very much second choice to Byrne and Quinlan has balls of steel knocking that penalty over.

Also thought McCarthy was a lot better than he was in the 6Ns.

Saw nothing to change my mind that Arnold and Ringrose are the stars of this team. Arnold didn't get enough ball but when he did he showed he has got the lot, from his passing, to his short lines outside and his ability to beat players with his feet.

Again like Arnold, Ringrose didn't get enough ball but he showed some lovely deft touches and to me looks very composed and classy. Hopefully we'll see him a bit more with a bit of space as the competition goes on.

We won't do much without a lineout or scrum though.
