Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think last night proved the worth of the ail. Quinlan played a fair amount for con under pressure situations last year and the bug game experience showed last night.

No doubt about that. A great kick and the exciting finish should give them confidence going forward.

Jeremy Loughman's been ruled out of the world cup with a broken nose.
Shame, a dynamic prop that I was looking forward to watching.

That means 18 year old Andrew Porter will become first choice LH. Liam O'Connor comes in as cover. Don't know much about O'Connor, but hopefully he's a strong scrummager.

Jesus that's a blow...one of the picks of this year's team I would say.

Is Michael Lagan injured or out of favour?

Somehow didn't even know this game was on today or that Byrne was injured. I rate Byrne immensely as do most, but it must be tough without him even if Carberry is also a good player.

Good to get the win even if it sounds like we were less than convincing.

Scotland have a strong pack and they looked to have an imposing maul game against New Zealand. One of their highest rated players is Zander Fagerson at prop, who's already played several games for the Glasgow Warriors. Given that the pack has been the letting down of this side, this should be a very difficult match up for Ireland.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,537 ✭✭✭typhoony

unfortunately the scots are strong in the areas where we are weak, keep away from any set piece would be my advice.

Our scrum always seems to improve whenever O'Donnell comes on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,071 ✭✭✭✭wp_rathead

strong start by the Scots - big scrum now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,723 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

Destroyed in our own scrum there, haven't contested in the first two lineouts, the set piece is going to let us down big time today.

    Thank goodness.

great break by Ringross - great finish by Dardiss

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Pure class from Ringrose. They don't need much. Which is a good thing because the pack isn't exactly providing a platform....

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

    Yellow surely?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Swan Curry

Has to be a yellow, he knew what he was doing

    welp,never mind

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Scotland are fairly poor. A lot of unforced errors already. We'd be in serious trouble against quality opposition.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 496 ✭✭George Hook

I take it there will be a water break every 20mins?

Seems sensible glad they're doing it.

Some talented individuals in this Ireland squad but the pack is a bit powder puff to say the least. Hard to shine without a good platform.

Carberry, Arnold, Ringrose and Fitzgerald all impressing so far anyway.

    Excellent kick.

That Scottish 8 has terrible hands, they should aim a few high balls at him

He's under pressure now so that would definitely be a tactic.
He's too keen to make yards.

This Porter lad has a haircut straight out of the Cian Healy school of prop forward shít haircuts.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Thought that was a harsh call. Should be a Scottish line-out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,274 ✭✭✭RobbieRuns

Ringrose is the standout. I think some others are ok but Scotland are poor, we should win this easily.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 496 ✭✭George Hook

Great pressure try. Well done lads.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Good try from Oliver there. Ireland look by far the more dangerous side once they do get some possession.

Scotland not at the races at all today. Golden opportunity for a bonus point.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

His hair isn't helping, but Porter is starting to annoy me now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 496 ✭✭George Hook

hmm not taking the points. Hope we punish them for that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,537 ✭✭✭typhoony

mccarthy should have either kicked or taken into contact instead of a hospital pass, luckily from the penalty the scots knock on again

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

    Fancy feet from Dardis there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

    What was that penalty for?

    Porter!

awk jesus.. wanted a try to finish the half. But really good so far.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Another Scottish knock on. They've been really poor today.

And now we're winning scrum penalties too! Could be a long 40 for the Scots.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

And a sloppy take from the restart with another Irish offside just hands then back 3. Frustrating.
