I'm in 2 minds about which elective to pick; English or Maths. I can't find much information about Maths on the college website but I assume that as it's an Education degree I'll be doing, then it won't be Financial Maths or Physics Maths that would be covered. Would it be more of the modules from Economics & Maths Science that will be taught?

Has anyone studied Maths as an elective?

What course are you doing? What year are you in? What do the module guidelines say will be studied?

Will be doing PE teaching and going into 1st year.

    This it says about maths under the specialist option section;

"The mathematics elective is a four year programme of study in mathematics and mathematics education. The programme is designed to develop your competence in mathematics to the requisite level."

Look if you are smart enough to get 495 points and get into PE teaching, you can handle technological maths with ease, I think the ranking of the maths goes

    Engineering
    Science
    Tech
    Business

You will do fine whatever you pick.

Cheers, cant find any info on it on the UL website so will email them to see if they can send on anything info about it.

I only got a B1 in Ordinary so I'm wondering if the option would be available to me.

I'll post up what info I get back of them.

I can probably get you all the info you want, if you need it!
Here is an exam paper for Tech Maths 1, and as you can see it's just barely above what you are doing now! I bet you would find it comfortably easy to do.. I have seen people fail it though so don't not try or anything!

The most reliable source for information on this would be the course leader. If you search for the course on the UL website, the contact details should be there. Be prepared for a slow response though - a lot of people are on holidays right now. You'll probably get a few weeks to make up your mind once the course starts too.

Ye I've emailed her but as you said, I'm not exactly expecting a response for a couple of weeks.

This is a link to the student handbook, on page 7-9 they show the modules for all the electives. You can look them up in the book of modules then. It also shows what semester you do the modules in etc.

Just in case anyone else is wondering modules for other electives:

It can be difficult for me now to read a module outline and have any meaningful idea of what the course entails. I know I had no idea back in first year.

    https://www.google.ie/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=tech%20maths%20ul

The first two links there are the entire course content for the Tech maths 1&2, if you need science/engineering maths, if that is your other options, I wouldn't find it too hard to find that content for you too.
