Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Brilliant pass from Shaw.

We need more of that intelligence on the wings.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,690 ✭✭✭ElChe32

Shaw has been very impressive tonight, composed and a great drive in attack

Thank god that switch was made early and we weren't treated to Valencia.

    Two great goals

But I really hope LVG is already planning the revival of our midfield and defence right now

Herrera doing what we've been missing driving through the midfield and making something happen.

Was he injured or just poor for the early sub

Blackett has been very impressive, looks far more comfortable than any of our CBs in defense as well as in passing the ball.

    Shaw's been very very impressive

Have a feeling rooney will be top goalscorer in the league this season

I'm staying in here that match thread is getting on my tits already!

Fletcher s been awful where lacking the movement and pace we have shown last two games so far.

Please use the match-thread to discuss the match in-game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,843 ✭✭✭GSPfan

Blackett looks really good. I'd rather see him get a chance this season than buy a Vermaalen. He has that Welbeck athleticism look about him but doesn't have to worry about shooting at goal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 221 ✭✭Jules.Winnfield

Defence looks completely different in the second half, a lot more settled. Even Blackett looks like he's been playing years longer than he has in the first team which is great to see.

Heard one the commentators mention that he didn't wanna risk further injury something along those lines.

    Haha ah well.

Herrera is a proper little shít in midfield.

No harm really, we need someone who gets stuck in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,136 ✭✭✭✭How Soon Is Now

Let's see can Nani last the twenty odd minutes.

Herrera has been a mixed bag tonight. Some good and some fairly bad stuff from him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,777 ✭✭✭jimmytwotimes 2013

Still of the same opinion, the back three will not do. They can't pass for sh1t. Maybe Smalling and Tyler will be ok but two top class signings needed there.

A top midfielder also needed to play with Herrera.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,136 ✭✭✭✭How Soon Is Now

Has big Tom touched the ball once yet?

  • Registered Users Posts: 246 ✭✭steoin

What, Smalling ok but Evans not, on the basis of passing?
    Eh, right so Ted.

Very true, couple of careless moments tonight but been very good all pre-season in general.

Cleverley hasn't been awful since he came on for Fletcher either

My lip reading isn't the best but I'm fairly sure Rooney just called Ibe a "Little prick."

I ain't heard his name mentioned once dunno weather that's good or bad....

Evans has been solid so far preseason even rumours of getting the captaincy. Seems to fit LVG's system.

Blackett definitely looks like he'll be getting some game time this season unless we bring in 2 CB's but he's been good when given his chance so far.

I'm hoping that 30+ games for Jones + Smalling side by side (with Evans) we will see the reasons why they've been so highly rated youngsters though Jones really frustrated me with his rashness in the challenge tonight :-/

    That better not cost us!

Much much better in second half :-)

Liverpool are a totally different team without Suarez simple as that.

Well hope this is a sign of things to come!

    Young > Rafael.

    Happy with the match overall.

Shaw, Young, Blackett all looked good. Jones (penalty aside) and Smalling looked good in the second half when tested. Lingard's goal was impressive. Getting through that fixture list unbeaten is brilliant, and we only let in one goal from open play (a freak of a goal too).

Fletcher was dreadful. Chico, one pass aside, didn't do much to justify his position in the team long term. Nani did nothing. And another peno shows our need for a defender, which will hopefully come soon.

Successful match and very successful pre-season. Excited for the new season now. :D

    Trophy Count: 1

We did it lads. If you'd have asked me would I ever live to see the day of United becoming International Champions Cup champions, I'd have said wtf Is that? no.

I know I'm not the only one going to be celebrating the cup win tonight...

Ashley Young is the best player in the world

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭Nolars

Think LVG realised fletch and clev cant handle high pressure games. herrea is a class ahead of them both

Still good though. They controlled us for 55 minutes.

Anyway, the last 40 or so minutes were very good. Much improved from the dreadful first half.

    Fletcher isn't the answer either.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,690 ✭✭✭ElChe32

Have to say I've been impressed by Herrera on the tour. He does love a tackle and has great vision.

And Ashley Young, if you are reading this, well done chap. Way to step up.

Young has impressed me the most during this tournament. I wanted him out last May, now I want him going nowhere.
