    I'm over half way thru my policy,jan-14 ->jan 15.
    A new disc just arrived there dated, may 14->jan 15.
    I never requested one tho, new disc is coloured too.
    Is this a new thing with companies?
    Insurer is catlin, through pat Britton.
    I'll ring them obviously, just wanted to see if anyone else had got same.

    Why are these call discs when they are in fact rectangular?

    If the insurer has pulled from the market (which is quite common), then your broker would have arranged alternative cover and you would have been issued a new disc/rectangle :) It's the only thing I can think of anyway.

    Mine isn't square as two of the sides are 15mm longer than the other two and because of the way it was printed, it would appear to be a rhomboid.

    To answer the OP; no, I have not received a new insurance rhomboid mid-year.

    OP - did you update any details with insurer recently? As this might be the cause of new disc issued.
    Some insurers are particularly bad about this - f.e. Aviva.
    They send new disc and cert after any even smallest amendment.
    Upon receiving policy, i amended my name, as it was wrogly spelled - new disc.
    I amended my car as trim level was not right - new disc.
    Changed job - informed them - new disc.
    The most overkill recently - I updated my email address with their online policy management facility - again - new disc issued.
    As I keep all the insurance related paperwork, from last 7 years, I'd say I have at least 30 discs issued by aviva.

    Problem solved, I added a named driver back in May, so it's taken them 9 weeks to issue new cert and disc that they didn't say they were sending.

    It's not wheely that important if it's a disc or a disk anyway.
