Hi, been a while since I've eaten out in Athlone but I've a few friends visiting and wondering where is good these days. Will be avoiding Italian type places as one of them is from Italy and I'd like them to try something else.

They eat everything but would usually go for fish dishes - any recommendations in or around Athlone.

    thanks

Thyme, hatters, left bank bistro, al mezzo , or if you don't mind going a few miles in to glasson you have the killinure chalets fab steak no idea about the seafood, the fatted calf or the wine port, the chalets would be my first choice

The chalets do the best steaks this side of anywhere.
