I have a current account in which my salary is paid into every month, at the start of the year i wasn't paying any fees at all but they have now started to deduct them without any notifications. I was led to believe it was free banking once €1500 is lodged every month.

Did i misread their terms and conditions ? Don't want to phone them up incase i've got it wrong

That's my understanding of it and I haven't been charged any fees.

It still states the same on their site https://www.permanenttsb.ie/whatweoffer/current-accounts/current-account/

You're better off giving them a call to find out what is going on.

The amount of the fees will be noted on your previous statement. If you're definitely lodging the €1500 per month, you shouldn't be charged (provided it's their new account that has that offer on it; some of their older accounts have different conditions but they'll upgrade you to the new a/c if that's the case). Is it possible that you used your overdraft and were charged quarterly interest? How much were the fees?

It's only €12 but better in my pocket than theirs, I've never received any notification on statements and don't have an overdraft either. I'm with them since post bank closed so probably 2008/2009. I'll get onto them and find out

Ah, if it's that long ago, you've probably got one of the older accounts. Give them a ring and ask to upgrade to the new one; I did that a couple of months ago. As you said, not a huge amount of money but if you can keep it, why not?

I've been with TSB since 2005 and they have always upgraded my account when the current account offers changed so they should have done the same for you. Get onto them and query it.

Why? Not all but a lot of the legacy PTSB products are better.

PTSB Switch, which is the name of the product, is the best of all the PTSB legacy products. It offered free banking for life with zero waiver conditions. I have this product. For those that have this product ... do not change to the current PTSB offering.

PTSB Everyday, which is another legacy product, is not as good as PTSB Switch or their current offering.
