The first time I witnessed racism was when I was babysitting two of my cousins who are half-Korean when I was a teenager. This was actually the most serious form of racism I've ever seen since it involved adults against small children. This happened back in the mid-1990's, I was about 15 years old at the time, I was babysitting them on a beach (they were 6 and 10) while our parents & grandparents were in a restaurant on the strand. We were just playing football with a beachball. We weren't bothering anyone when a bunch of elderly men & women (around 60+) started picking up stones and throwing them at us, yelling "go back to your own country", and stuff like that. I had to cover them as best as I could and get them back to the restaurant with those feckers following us and throwing stones. You'd think a bunch of people that old would have more sense than to pick on small children unable to defend themselves! Disgusting behavior!

Where did this happen , Ireland ?

I once saw a guy in a Subway in Dublin abusing an asian looking girl who worked there. Think she messed up the order or something.

He was shouting at her to " learn some F*cking English ".

That said, I'm not sure if it counts as racism as he never mentioned skin colour or anything, more like language ability discrimination or something

Her answer should have been " When you can speak Irish as well as I speak English you'll have a point "

I've been called all sorts and had stuff thrown at me due to being english, but I'm not sure how much is actual racism and how much is just scumbags being scumbags.

I had a middle aged woman come up to me in work the other day (i work selling tickets in a train station) and she forgot her free travel pass so i told her she'd have to pay for a ticket, which she was ok with. Then conversation went as follows:

ME: That'll be 14 euro please.

HER: The ****ing Irish love ripping off the Irish. I'll bet if i was a ****ing black you'd give it to me for nothing.

I was completely caught off guard because this was just your run-of-the-mill customer up until then. Didn't know what to say after that so i just shook my head in disbelief and said "Right..... anyway, that'll be 14 euro please".

How does that make any sense at all? It's not beyond the realms of fairness to expect someone in the service industry to be able to communicate effectively with customers. It has nothing to do with racism. If they can't speak English they're not fit to do their job properly and should be put cleaning, cooking, accounting or anything that doesn't require English. I say this having suffered some ridiculous communication problems during the Celtic Tiger

There was a soldier shot in our street years ago. After he was taken away people came out of their houses.

A woman in the street said,

"Jesus, isn't it it terrible what they did to that wee fella. Sure you wouldn't do it on a blackie."

    I kid you not.

Was at an underage match a couple of weeks ago when one of our midfielders (a coloured guy) scored a great goal. He had a celebration rehearsed and went through it pulled off his shirt but his vest got tangled with his jersey and the ref put him off the field to sort it our. As he was coming towards the line i could hear one of the subs shout to him "you're some n****r you're some n****r, i looked over and it was another coloured guy shouting it. Is he racist for shouting it, am i racist for saying coloured ?

Think if the guy shouting it was fair skinned the game may have been stopped and we'd be probably reading about it in the papers the following week

    Its all very confusing sometimes

Probably the worst racism I ever encountered was in primary school, when our 3rd class teacher "taught" us that "everyone hates Jews." Vile stuff but it explains a lot.
