problem with sound on hard drive help

have a Seagate goflex HD. Used it to copy movies, photos etc from the laptop and watch on the tv. Nothing very technical. Lately the sound will go during a movie or just be non existent from the start. The cables seem fine and have tried other ones to no avail. any tips or advice as to what might be wrong, how I could fix…
