    Hi there,

Myself and my wife currently operate individual current accounts and also a joint account. We are looking to close the individual accounts (which receive wages etc. and have some DDs set up) and have everything operate through the joint account.

Can this be done easily through the bank (similar to a switch) or will we need to update DD and wage details first before closing the current accounts?

    Thanks
    Grudle

    Hi Grundle,

Thanks for getting in contact with us here on Boards.ie.

When you close an account, a representative in your branch can arrange to switch any direct debits or standing orders to your joint account. However, for any incoming payments like wages you will need to contact the sender and provide them with your joint account details.

We would suggest that you call ahead to make an appointment in your branch as this will ensure that the transfer process can be actioned as smoothly as possible.

You can book an appointment here through our website.

We hope this helps and if we can assist you with anything else, please don't hesitate to contact us again.

    Thanks,
    Elaine
