Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would Arsenal have to play in Europa league if they lost tonight?

    Yeah.

    Yeah.

I'd far prefer that, from a Liverpool perspective.

    Much more draining.

Are Lille in the Europa now?

I think they were beaten during the week.

    Yes.

I think Origi is going to be a frustrated fellow if the bits and peices I've been reading are accurate. Lille just don;t seem interested in playing much attacking football.

The draw will probably be about 6.30 with all the messing about they do before it!

Yeah Philippe Auclair said on one of the football podcasts last week that they are extremely defensive under their current coach so I wouldn't panic if Origi doesn't score as many goals as expected. Plus they had him back on the wing last night.

So is the league cup 3rd round draw this evening?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭Speak Now

Napoli being a goal to the good may lead to some late movement out the way.

It's amazing the different outcomes the CL draw can throw up. You could end up with Real Madrid, PSG, Roma. Or Porto, Basel, Salzburg.

Yes, immediately after Leeds game. We're ball number 13....

Could still do a serious job for us! Wish him well for sure.

Shocking defending by Napoli, leaving a man idle at the back post and giving him enough time to take a touch before smashing it home

    2-1 now

Moses off to a standing ovation on his home debut for stoke!

Serious test for Arsenal in qualifier.

A bid for Higuain or a swap Broini now Napoli are out.

    How quick was that?

Arsenal will get through, we used to make hard work of qualifying too.

Hanging on at home to Graz the year we went onto win it bet out all.

How about Callejón? Cheaper but a real goal threat.

I think there are other areas of the squad that need more attention right now than the attack

Plus how would you keep Sturridge, Balotelli and Higuain all happy?

Agger, Lucas and Broini and some money all to Napoli and we can take Callejon, Higuain & Hamsik in return

That would be Brendan Rodgers problem ;) Pellegrini seems to manage it ok with his forwards.

Wouldn't mind Hamsik, no need for Higuain and thats my first time to see Callejon so I'll say no to him too.

Things are bad enough for Benitez. Do you want to have him lynched by the Napoli fans?!

My only concern is Liverpool and getting players that will help us get top 4 again.

There is always a need for a world class striker who can score goals.

I'm not a fan of him at all, he never seems to put in a decent performance on the occasions I get to see him.

I wonder is Rafa's job under threat now.

    Coke and hookers.

Seriously though, the sweat that Arsenal just had should be a reminder to all that it shouldn't be about targetting top 4 but it should be about aiming for top 3.

Probably. Hasn't done a good job at Napoli. He mostly signs efficient players who ido a specific role in the team. Rarely lets attacking players express themselves. He hasn't got much out of Hamsik either.

Anyone knocked out tonight worth nabbing?

Offer Napoli Lucas in exchange for Inler who was only on the bench tonight.

just on Higuain, I was having look at his stats and his league goals according to wiki are exceptional.

15 from 35 ap. at River Plate
    108 from 175 at Madrid
    17 from 35 at Napoli

    and

    22 from 43 in Internationals.

That some record, I must only see him in cup matches;)

Perfect chance to give some of the new lads some game time.

Was a fan of his a few years back. Haven't seen much of him since two years ago, or so, though.

Stopped watching other leagues last year as I didn't really have the time.

A few PL teams already out. We might have a chance this year...

    I'd play a team like:

    Jones
    McLaughlin
    Agger/Coates
    Sakho
    Enrique (if fit)
    Allen/Lucas
    Can
    Lallana/Coutinho
    Lambert
    Markovic
    Suso

That's assuming some of those don't get moved on, and that Borini does.

    Flanno?

That's an absolute dog of a draw to get Bibao.

I was thinking last season that they'd have a crack at the league but when I actually saw the side they had in the CL they look pretty average.

Some managers might've done better. Some might've done worse.

    Flanno?

Ya, I was considering him as well. I know he's injured but I'd like to see McLaughlin get a first XI appearance. I decided to let Flanno and Enrique play a game of FIFA for the left back spot, and Enrique obviously won.
