Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Alonso basically said he turned us down for a return.

Did we try to get him??

Just read the quote - it does sound like that...
“I had five great years at Liverpool and I would rather just keep that memory as it is”

Didnt he turn us down last year?

Fairly big hint that he turned us down.

So that's Ibe, Robinson, Kelly, Brad Smith, Ilori, Wisdom, Teixeira, Alberto, Aspas and Origi elsewhere. Some to return, some not. A trimmer squad, all ready to make a contribution. But still too many CBs...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,872 ✭✭✭Dickerty

Rodgers said that Johnson will miss Spurs, but Moreno seems ok.
So that's Manquillo and Moreno to start. Will he change at CB?

Also says that there are offers for some more players to go.
    Borini, Agger, Coates?
I doubt Lucas will leave without a replacement in, he started the first game...

Who do you lose between Coates and Agger though. I'd be keeping them both, lotta games to go through this year

Well Toure stayed because he was told he'd be use.
Lovren, Sakho and Skrtel are always first 3 (2 to start, 2 on the bench).
So we don't need 6 options.

I would sell Agger because we WILL be fine without him, and he'd commend the best fee. And he deserves better than 4th choice.

Forgot about Toure. Yeah, I suppose Toure could do a job in the cup games for us. I would like to see Coates get a run out at some stages too, he was very impressive in pre season, be worth another look at anyway. That, or ship him out on loan

They're welcome to him as far as I'm concerned. Not sure if that's a controversial opinion or not but I don't rate him.

A little OT, just reading here that Basel played Ludogorets Razgrad in a qualifier last season and Basel beat them 4-2 and 2-0. That Basel tie is going to be tricky especially away.

Yah man, I know! As is Robinson. Just talking general departures...

Lallana is in the squad for the weekend too.

Should have a really strong bench for the weekend.

I'd be pretty surprised if Borini was to go now. I'm sure himself and Rodgers have had a chat and he must know his place in the squad.

tbh I like Borini and while he isn't at the standard we need now - he works hard and is a good professional as well as seemingly being a nice guy - I'd love to see him step up a gear and prove to be a valuable member of the squad

Robinson started his day yesterday as a liverpool player, then moved to QPR, and ended his day as a Huddersfield player. Long ol' day.

Yep, yesterday to QPR for £1M, they immediately loaned him to Huddersfield!

He said it in relation to other PL teams trying to sign him.

Probably saw what happened to Torres and the LFC supporters.

History has shown that Basle tends to be a tricky tie for British clubs over the years.

I think he we hadn't had such a big bid for him, we'd be happy for him to stay.
I am ok if he sticks around, I think we'll use him occasionaly, we have no real strikers coming through the youths yet...

I've been at the Bernabeu quite a few times for games, PM away.

Checking latest ticket prices last night and cheapest on viagogo was £150. Expect that to rise very fast.

But tickets haven't been issues yet. That'd be speculative.

That was in regard a return to the premier league

    He also said this
    Alonso wrote:

Judging by what Rodgers said in the presser, it looks to me like borini has been told if he stays his chances of playing will be minimal.

Yep, and maybe Agger too? Why would either of them stay in that case?
Even if you move to a less-than-ideal team, if you play well enough, you can go elsewhere in a season or two...
