He's not suited to our style of play. He's far to slow and immobile.

At this very moment in time, I don't see how anyone could have Markovic in ahead of Lambert at CF. Lambert is proven in the premiership, he scores goals and gets lots of assists. I'l admit he has been crap in preseason.

I'm not happy with Lambert being our current 2nd choice but I'm sure we will sign someone and he will be pushed back to 3rd/4th.

Who knows, maybe Markovic will turn out to be a fantastic CF. I don't see it TBH, think his best position will be of the left or in behind.

Also Borini is still a Liverpool player, would have in ahead of Markovic at CF as well.

Rodgers is in love with Sterling
“His development has gone to a new level. He’s way above the level from when he first came in both tactically and technically.

“And what has been beautiful to watch with Raheem has been his maturity. He’s turning into a beautiful young man.

Southampton just paid £12M for Shane Long. I think that goes to show that even mediocre strikers are commanding ridiculous fees.

Despite it being a bit cringy, as things stand, if Sturridge was out for a while Sterling is the one I'd like to see given more of a front role.

    From the Sterling article.

"Bizarrely, he was denied the man of the match awards because under US law the fact that the tournament was sponsored by Guinness meant no-one under the age of 21 was eligible."

This is why football is none of Americas business.

He'll be our cover at left back surely?

So now we have moreno/enrique for lb and manquillo/Johnson for rb. Wonder what will happen with flanno.? Maybe enrique or johnson could be binned too. Lot of talk of toure going off to turkey which throws a bit of spanner in the works for centre back. Few more outs expected in that department id say

Don't be silly, Reuss is at LB

Oh hang on, we just got one of those...

Reuss is a goalkeeper!, yes, yes a goalkeeper

If Agger stays that'll be Skrtel, Agger, Sakho and Lovren as senior CBs with Coates and Illori in reserve.
Although there was talk of Illori to Bordeux on loan.

GlenJo is a goner I'd say. If the club had wanted to keep him, we'd have given him a contract extension by now, especially with him not into the final year of his current deal. Will be expecting him to put in a stormer between now and the end of the season with the aim of putting himself into Harry or Sam's crosshairs (assuming both are still around). If he isn't getting games, I could even see us letting him go on the cheap come January. Either way, his medium term future is over at this club.

So... Rihanna wants to buy Liverpool
    http://www.mundodeportivo.com/20140811/futbol/premier-league/el-club-que-quiere-comprar-rihanna-es-el-liverpool_54412969416.html

What a crazy scenario it would be if Lebron James and Rihanna co-owned the club.

Martin Kelly at £1.5M is an absolute bargain. With regular games, I can actually see him doing very well.

We better have a sell on clause, cause he comes good, he could be like Gary Cahill and end up at a big club later in his 20s...

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,724 ✭✭✭gafferino

Was anything mentioned about Suso going the other way?

Well, she'd "own" the club in the same way I once "owned" Juventus by having a teeny tiny shareholding in them.

Anything that pushes more media coverage of the club is a good thing anyway.

I see him doing well for a month and dropping off severely until march, except this time I hope we have enough cover for him.

    Yup.

If he really makes it count and we get a crucial goalscorer it'll be easily the most impressive window we've had in the last 20 years (without the benefit of hindsight being used to know whether everything turns out to be a success).

If we were to pay 30 million for Coutinho this summer, I'd consider that a bargain. That lad is going to be a superstar.

Read 20M earlier on twitter. Haven't done the sums myself.

Poyet is still confident about getting Borini which would make it 6M. Have to think there is still a fair bit of funds available for another striker.

With Assaidi and Borini likely to follow, plus Coates, Agger, Lucas, Suso possible sales

Just further to this, if any four of the above six left Liverpool would be in a trading profit for the summer and not a penny of the 60m war chest touched, now I just put this out there for divilment but did the money ever exist? and if it did so why hasn't it been spent? Or will it be spent - next year? With the money from tv and the CL group stage income the club must be very handily placed with regard to FFP when that kicks in next year

I would say, hopefully, that those kind of players were lined up to bring in regardless if Suarez stayed or left. Origi is one for the future and Lambert is a Plan B. Hopefully we can splash cash on a great striker option this window. Backup keeper aswell would be a fantastic window.

Was thinking we werent too far off breaking even. So we have a massive wad of cash to spluge on a top striker. Ayre has done a great job so far this summer, hopefully he can get that one last deal right and land us __________
