Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have it 38-38 here so far.

If I had money in my PP account I'd put it on Gunnar by sub.

3-1 in play just to win

Gunnar getting his nut done in here. Sbg coming up short with this and the pendred mess. Some justice for Dave Jones.

Controversial opinion: Gunnars striking isin't just 'unorthodox' its sloppy.

Kavanagh saying that Story "knows he's losing the decision". Ummm...

Gunnar needs a stoppage to win , not looking likely

It could be all square, but gunni is in trouble

JK must be watching a different fight to me. He's just told gunni to do the same thing he's been doing because story is losing the decision.

    Terrible corner work

It helps the main event stand out from the rest of the card and gives it a sense of importance. It lets the rest of the card build up to "the big one" so to speak. And as you said, it's great for the fans.

Yeah exactly, in terms of the event it makes sense. But in terms of competing in the sport it makes no sense, what's the significance of 2 top 20 WW's fighting 2 extra rounds? Zero.

gunni 4/1 to win this fight with a minute left in round 4

story was 3/1 to win the fight after round two, i took both

I'd say the odds on a lot of fights go like that, might be something I'll keep an eye on in the future.

Why does it need to have significance? It's a spectator sport and it gives the people what they want.
Not everything has to make perfect sense. Just sit back and enjoy it.

    Story wins it for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,384 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Gunni's first loss I fear. Just couldn't keep Story on the ground and Gunni's sloppy striking exposed the longer the fight went on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Story has that fight for me. Stuck to Nelson like glue. Great pressure fighter.

Amazed that Kavanagh and co didn't think Nelson was losing the fight.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 310 ✭✭Glock Lesnar

Gunnar beats Story 50-45 via being McGregor's mate.

Strange advice from kavanagh at the end of the 4th

    something similiar happened last week
after round two, howard v ebersole, ebersole was 7/2
it was a round each imo and a very even fight
i couldnt even get a tenner on with ladbrokes for that one and they
were the only ones doing it live as far as i could see, 4 euro max is all they offered

be great if more did live betting for these

Yupp Story takes it I'd say. Gunni has some chin!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 650 ✭✭✭csallmighty

Too happy to stand with the better striker. No urgency to take it to the ground where he should taking the fight.

    50-44? Wow

  • Registered Users Posts: 802 ✭✭✭MarkJD

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,768 ✭✭✭raze_them_all_

story won but 50-44 is a terrible call from the third judge

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,910 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

    50-44!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,438 ✭✭✭✭El Guapo!

    Correct decision there.
I'd say Gunni will learn a lot from this and come back stronger.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

Fair win for Story, I had him 49-46. 50-44 is mad, some judges are nuts.

I've never bet on MMA in play before, might try it with bovada or one of the other US bookies, don't think the usuals are too big into it.

Oh me word 50-44 who was that eejit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,931 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

hats off to gunni, how on earth he took too many punches is beyond me
    man has a concrete chin
story only been stopped once in 25 fights (by sub) so we know exactly
    how tough story is

It always bad when a hard to call fight, is stil difficult to fathom after the scorecards.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 310 ✭✭Glock Lesnar

50-44 wasn't that outrageous, the knockdown was worthy of a 10-8 and I don't think Gunnar won any rounds clearly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,698 ✭✭✭Gumbi

50-44. The knockdown round is deserving of a 10-8, but 5 rounds to 0? What a joke. Still the correct decision I feel.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

Once Gunni couldn't keep him on the ground it was going to be tough.

Last judge was the only one who got it right.

    Gunnar was hopeless.
But I never bought into the hype. He was crap against Cummings in the last fight and Jorge Santiago had hiom rocked badly a few times. I remember thinking that decision could go against Nelson.

Nelson was exposed badly just like McGregor would have been if he didn't land that lucky punch against Dustin.

Mod: Banned for a week for trolling.

Gunni is a gentleman. One of the most gracious and humble fighters I've ever seen.

Did he just say "We have not seen the last of Rick Storey"???

Once Gunni couldn't keep him on the ground it was going to be tough.

That was always gonna be his achilles heel in this division. Him being smaller and weaker the the 170 pounders who have good wrestling it was always going to be hard to work his top game.

Gunni is without doubt one of the most humble people to ever step in the cage, no excuses and took it on the chin, literally.

Yeah sure buddy, what about the punch before that one and the one before that.

Poor advice from the corner but I don't think Nelson could have dont anything different.

The face on Hardy when he realised his mistake.

I thought he looked small compared to Story. Story's a big WW but if he wants to push on he's going to be competing with guys that size consistently. I imagine he doesn't cut much weight.
