Small balance in a club community account which has not been used for years. Suddenly a 5 Euro charge in June (Current Account Fees) .... there had been no fees on this account ever. I find it disgusting behaviour by a Bank to steal money in such a manner ... considering that never has a penny of interest been paid yo this account over the years. I would prefer to have this account handed over to a local bona-fide charity than watch the B.O.O steal the rest of it.

Hi Claggan,

Thanks for your post.

We are sorry to hear you feel this way. As we do not have account access here we are unable to confirm the exact nature of this fee. However, we can advise that in June 2013 Bank of Ireland notified all Personal Current Account holders that we were launching a new fee structure and the fee options, Pay as You Go and Flat Fee, will no longer be available from the fee quarter starting 19/08/2013. We also issued emails, there was an interrupt message when logging on to 365 Online, a message printed on the bottom of statements, in branch signage and press notifications to advise of this.

All personal current account holders will now have to pay a E5 maintenance fee each quarter as well as the appropriate transaction fee. For full details of this fee structure, please see here.

For further clarification of any fees on your account please contact your branch where a representative will be more than happy to discuss this with you.
