    Dear BOI,

I have been asked about a dormant current account with has been charged the new quarterly €5 charge.

The account has not been used for almost 7 years and due to the €5 charge is now overdrawn.  The owner has emigrated.   According to the branch, money cannot be deposited into the account and/or the account closed because it is dormant.  The branches only solution is for the account owner to travel back to Ireland, to reopen the account in branch in person.  This is not going to happen.

Should the account owner just forget about it or do you have another solution for closing the account?

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

    Hi Tow,

Thanks for contacting us on Boards.

In this case, we would advise the customer to contact their branch directly. A representative will be able to send them a form that is necessary to fill out in order to have the dormant status removed from the account. Once this form is received, and the account updated, they will be able to lodge funds into the account or close it if they wish.

Please find the contact details for our branches here

Please let us know if you need help with anything else.

    Thanks,
    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,

Please read my query again. The customer has already contacted the branch.

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

    Hi Tow,

I agree with what you have posted, however with no account access here we are unable to see why the branch would have said to call in rather than have the necessary forms or documents sent by post.

Generally, the branch will be able to post the forms to the customer and also advise if any extra documentation to reinstate the account is needed.

If your contact is also on Boards, please let them know they can send us a PM and we can arrange for their branch to contact them, we'd be more than happy to offer our help.

    Thanks,
    Sarah
