Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

was looking to buy online and have a few options. Wanted to rule any poor quality ones. I wanted to see what this coffee group does, what their experiences is to making a great espresso from the following suppliers. My options so far are

    http://www.ponaire.ie/

    http://www.coffeebeans.ie/

    http://coffeeangel.com/

http://www.3fe.com/ not sure if this imported from Hasbean

everyone seems to rave about Squaremile so maybe an option also but would prefer to support artisan roasters in Ireland.

    I can recommend CoffeeAngel.

3FE are associated with Has Bean and used to serve their coffee, but are now roasting their own. You can't buy by the bag from them online though - only by subscription at the moment (unless I'm missing something). Lovely coffee too.

Correct RE 3fe, you have to buy in store and you never know what they have or are roasting until you pop in - they need to sort this out.

Squaremile are great but after finishing up my six month trial I'd be more inclined to go for a Hasbean subscription where I'm going to get more exotic and varied coffees that would push my palette.

I usually drink Badger & Dodo and more recently 3FE beans. I liked the B&D but then when I tried the 3FE recently I much preferred it. Much lighter roast, more interesting flavours. Just finishing a bag of Cork Coffee Roasters "Morning Growler" blend, not impressed, no roast date on bag but it seemed stale, pretty dark roast again.

why would you want 4 kg of beans ? Also just going by the site, I'm assuming the beans aren't that great (could very well be wrong, though)

Have tried a few sources ....
    balliescoffee (espresso starter kit)
    ponaire (very nice indeed)

Then tried the Sumatra bean from DiscountCoffee (on somebody's recommendation here), and sure enough they were as good as the Ponaire bean, and defo nicer than one of the beans in the espresso starter pack (other was nice).

Just wondering - why do you assume that the beans aren't great?

4kg of beans??? Yep I know beans should be ground as close to the roasting date as possible, but don't taste any difference!

Works out nearly half the price of other sites!

Last time I ordered from Happy Donkey they had issues delivering to Parcel Motel in NI. After a good few emails they finally did. I just ordered some parts from them there again now but this time it could send to NI. In fact I should have tried ROI first in hindsight but the postage might have rocketed. Anyway their mocha beans are quite nice, £4 a bag

Maybe a little early to be giving a recommendation (haven't tasted yet), but so far I am very impressed with the service and offer may not last beyond Sept 30th so thought I'd share.

Ordered 2 x 250g of Silvio Espresso beans from bailiescoffee.com on 23rd Sept, £8.10 (€10.38) with free shipping. They have arrived today with roast date 23rd Sept on them!

PM me if you are interested in the additional 10% off until 30/9/14

Still trying the Pactcoffee I got for £1 10 days ago, but don't think I will be continuing subscription as the Parcel Motel fees are prohibitive.

    I've tried a few - 3FE, badger & dodo and coffeeangel.

Favourite by far is Cloudpicker, their El Salvador is delicious

Almost all of my coffee comes from Square Mile, Hasbean or James Gourmet. At the moment I have two subscriptions (filter and espresso) with Square Mile.

Are you not crucified with delivery costs?

    http://www.sweetmaria.com and http://www.coffeemojo.ie/

Those are the only two I have order from in the last 2 years.

Coffe mojo on monthly basis. Can't recommend them highly enough. I only buy green beans off them though.

Was curious about these so gave them a go. Great price of around €14 for 1kg bag. Bag arrived very quickly maybe two days after ordering. Roast date was three week prior to delivery. Must say I'm not overly impressed. Ok for a cheap bean I suppose and with milk as lattee it's fine. On its own in either espresso or black coffee its defo not as nice as the usual roasters (badger & dodo, coffee mojo, has bean). Delivery also came from Northern Ireland as well. Not sure if I would try again.

When you buy coffee beans from the US do you get hit with customs charges ? I'm keen to order from Sweet Marias but being hit with an extra 25% in charges doesn't sound appealing :o
